I am writing this post to determine whether there will be clusters of US fans staying in either Dusseldorf or Cologne for the night prior and night of US vs. Czech.

I have a large group going to the game, and we are just getting around to booking hotels now. Gelsenkirchen appears full and the two other cities are a short jaunt. We are likely choosing Dusseldorf for accomodations and was wondering if there are clusters of folks doing the same thing.

Needless to say, we will be spending our time in Gelsenkirchen the night before and the entire day/night of the game, irrespective of where our hotel is.

We are staying at Hotel Arosa in Essen (20 mins away from the stadium). I'm not sure how much time we will actually spend in Gelsenkirchen (other than the game itself). I've read it's very industrial.

we'll be staying in Dusseldorf, at the Hotel Hanseat (here (http://www.hotel-hanseat.de)) which is in the Oberkassel part of town, about 2 km from the Altstadt.

If your matches are in different cities that might be a good idea:
World Cup Camp (www.worldcupcamping.com)

They are ideally located in the center of Germany. have a big screen, tons of parties and entertainment and are laying on a shuttle service to all the games.

I think many people are staying in Cologne. It is supposedly one of the most beautiful cities around. The Klosch beer is supposed to be great. Me and some buddies are staying at the HOPPER HOTEL ST ANTONIUS. Just going in a few hours before the game and then taking the train back to party in Cologne (after we win). :) :D

I'll probably stay at the Fan Camp in Gelsenkirchen.

Gelsenkirchen Fan Camp - Info at the bottom of the page. (http://www.aufschalke2006.de/ge_unterkuenfte_en.php)

I was told by the Gelsenkirchen Tourist Office that there will be a website with online reservations up in a couple of weeks.

Another option is the Dortmund Fan Camp which is very close.
