View Full Version : Questions from a RFK first-timer

I've scoured the forums looking for answers to these questions and came up empty. Thus, the new thread:

I'm looking to come from Pittsburgh with a 3 or 4 friends for the April 2nd opener against RBNY. None of us have been to a DC game, and for some of them, this is their first MLS game (so I want them to have a real good time).

1. Is there a better way of getting tickets than paying outrageous fees with Ticketbastard? I noticed DCU has a 4 ticket game opener pack, but if more than 4 of us come, we're back to getting tickets from Ticketmaster.

2. How touchy is stadium security about people moving? I tend to be loud and obnoxious during games, so if I wanted to move and stand with the supporter's groups, would that be a problem?

3. I hear all these wonderful stories about pre-game tailgates going on. If we wanted to come and hang out with some friendly DCU fans, when and where should we show up? Is there some kind of etiquette I should know (i.e. BYOB, or money for the keg, meat for grilling, etc.)? If I wanted to bring my own grill, is there a tailgating spot you can recommend?

Any other suggestions or hints for enhancing the game day experience appropriately would be greatly appreciated :).

See ya all at the opener!

Click on my Barra Brava link below and then on tailgate and all your questions will be answered. :)

I think you have your answer right there.

In addition to Barra Brava, there are also tickets available through the Screaming Eagles (http://screaming-eagles.com), and maybe La Norte (I'm not sure how LN handles ticketing). With any of these choices, your gameday experience will be enhanced and you won't have to worry about your rowdy tendencies.

Always welcome in Lot 8. We'll be at the tailgate starting, Chico, what, about dawn? Big fun.

The Supporters Clubs might want to ensure him that he will be able to get tickets from them on Game Day. Wouldn't want him to show up and then he would have to sit up in 314 and 315. I heard it might smell bad in those sections that day.

The Barra has plenty of game day tickets available at our booth.

Suhweet. All the info is much appreciated.

I think we'll probably go in one of the supporters sections, I just have to figure out how much rowdiness my friends can handle. We might take a friend of mine thats originally from New York, so I don't want her to cry from all the abuse.

Instead, she should cry because of her team...buwahahaha!

If she's actively rooting for NY, then yeah...I'd suggest keeping her out of the Barra.

Don't forget that it is customary for people to procure beer for me on their first trip to RFK!

I prefer Guinness. Thanks.

The BB spans Sections 137 - 135, the SEs 134 - 132. The aisle between 135 and 134 is the epicenter of the drums and general cacophony with progressively less standing and cheering as you go either direction from that aisle.

Also, make sure to feed beer to the drummers before the retired BS moderators! :D

The only thing I can comment on is that they don't care too much about moving. I always buy 300 level seats and move to the 200's... the 100 levels are chained off and gaurded obviously but you can still get pretty close for cheap.

I've been caught after moving before and they didn't do anything about it. just told us to give the nice loud screaming woman her seat.

We normally only go to two or three games a year so some of these other guys know better im sure but i figured I'de chime in.
