Lollapalooza (http://www.lollapalooza.com/lineup.htm) is back. This year:

Jane's Addiction
Audioslave
Incubus
Queens of the Stone Age
Jurassic Five

Will hit most major metropolitan US areas (http://www.lollapalooza.com/cities.htm). Dates/specific venues TBA.

I could live without Incubus, but Jane's Addiction and QOTSA are killer live, and I look forward to Audioslave.

Jane's Addiction also headlined the first Lollapalooza (because Perry Farrell is the organizer). I went to the first few at Shoreline, and enjoyed the musical diversity (albeit commercial). Early shows helped launch the careers of bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, and also widened the crossover appeal of people like Ice-T and Ice Cube. My favorite was the show with Ministry, who absolutely destroyed the headlining Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I loved the '93 one, although they coulda skipped Dinosaur Jr, who just didn't get it done live and I didn't like much anyway. Same thing with Front 242, who I really do/did like, but unlike Ministry their music just didn't work as well live. Alice in Chains though...man they had it going back then.

I think the one with the Pumpkins, Beasties, Tribe and Cypress Hill was probably the best.
