Material: 65cottton/45poly blend Broadcloth.
1.99 yard @ Walmart. Sometimes less.

I am in the process of making approximately 8 tri-bar 2 Color flags 8' X 5'

Whatever you make, please use Wildcatter Orange, Black and White.

I think we are avoiding the Sky BLue for now as per Sam.

I managed to find a few orange/white checkered flags at a price cheaper than material at walmart. :-) So spend your time finding someone to come to the opening game!

Ive been trying to get as many people as possible to go...Hopefully it works.
I am going to bring all of the flags I can.The more, the better. Bring yours of course and lets raise hell.
BTW where did you find them and is there any chance we could get our hands on Black and Orange checkers? Let me know.

I will swing by a hardware store sometime in the next couple of days and pick up a roll or two of clothes-line and some sort of toggles to make permanent loops that are more durable than the tie wraps/zip ties we used last Sunday.

Thanks. See you Saturday

Well, I couldn't get any toggles, but I did get the line ((2) 40 ft lengths). I'm racking my brains trying to figure out what to use as a replacement, but in the meantime, I can only suggest cutting 2-3 ft lengths and tying them off...

I did use the smallest cheapest zip-ties - I'm sure for $4 I can find some much stronger. Just didn't know how well they'd hold up.

I watched your game (impressed with the home support) and I saw some checkered banners in the supporters' section. Those make great flags, Instead of holding them why not make them into flags (if approved) just stick a pole on there :p The ultras surs of Real Madrid uses flags with the exact same design (aside from the color)

For the last game they wouldn't allow flagpoles in so we had to make do without, that should change for this game so hopefully we'll actually be waving flags this time.

(Thomas & Betts UV-resistant - great for switchgear wiring, but not so good under wind-induced stress, apparently! :()

And now that I think about it, I doubt I have any of them left in my van... Gave them to another guy early on this week to finish up a job he was working on.

I have another 50+ checkered flags with poles - not sure we want to hand more than 20 out in section 213 - as there's just not enough room to wave all of them... but I will definitely bring a few more so we can see what happens.

Are you willing to hand them out to stands beside the TA? There is the risk of people not giving them back

From what I understand the FO is only allowing flagpoles in our section so the best we could do would be to hand out the flags by themselves, and then I'm not sure if it would be worth it.

How about "expanding" your section? I'm sure the TA is gonna get bigger and from the latest pics the stands already look a bit tight

Yes, we're going to need more room when this keeps up...

I noted that most of the flags were in the lower part of 213 on Saturday - bring more poles, and make sure they are spaced out somewhat evenly, left to right, top to bottom, and 213 will look like a box that is positively about to explode.

If we can't expand to an entire other section with flags, can we at least do it along the upper most row along the back, one end to the other?

Ok, I have never sat in a section like the Texian Army at a game before. I am having a blast... now is there any type of flag etiquette?

It seems great to wave them any time the ball is dead or when we score a goal or when the players come on and off the field. There were many times though that some (not all) were waving during the flow of play. I was right behind two of the big black and orange striped ones. It made it really hard to follow the game at times. I love the pageantry, but I most importantly I want to watch my team play. I'm very intense that way. (I also was wacked pretty good one time by one of the poles, but it wasn't on purpose and I have a hard head.)

So is it normal to wave the flag even during the run of play? Just wondering. I don't want to get rid of them at all, but I might be careful who I sit behind, or I'll simply get myself up to the front row.

Keep up the great work everyone! We are doing very well.

The waiving of the flags are constant for the 90 minutes. Yet as we grow as a supporters section each and every one of us will learn the eb and flow of when to be up and when to be up even more. The view of the field can be blocked from time to time, but we are standing and IMHO 213 is a fantastic view for all.

We'll just grow into it sports fans.

I'm on the front row - but if I was behind a flag waving during play - I'd complain or move if they were blocking me from watching the flow of the game.

I think it's great to wave them when the players come out, during pregame, when goals are scored, and when the ball is out of play or there is a stoppage. It would look sweet if we could get some sync'd up waving for songs in pregame and halftime. And of course we need to be waving and yelling like crazy when the game is done.

I probably wouldn't even mind a little flag waving when the ball is being held by the offense on the defensive side (before the attacking buildup).

And of course - who realized how great those poles would sound banging along with the chants!

I was just stuck behind two of the huge flags, and there were times when both were in my during the flow of play. I'm cool with the flags, I'm just going to try and sit on the first two rows the rest of the season.
