Well deserved for Vaughn.
I'm sure having Stott over in Germany right now for the WC training helped make this assignment possible, but I'm positive Vaughn will take advantage of the opportunity.
A year is an eternity in refereeing at the top levels, but if things stay on track, the future is bright for Vaughn in 2010...and even brighter in 2014.

he is now in his early 30's so late 30's to early 40's...still very young by world refereeing standards.

Yeah, if the current retirement age stays at 45, I believe Vaughn is still eligible for 2018. I think he's 33 now.

Vaughn will be 33 a week on Saturday! Making him 41 in 2014, and as he'll turn 45 in 2018, he'll be eligible for (hopefully) WC England!

Sounds like if Vaughn continues to improve so quickly he could go down as one of the most successful referees in the US of all time.
