you have no control over your players. I tell him to pass forward he attempts a through-ball to some idiot across the screen, getting intercepted on the way.
I try to a standing-tackle an opp player with the ball... (my defender is coming towards the dribblers btw) my player decides for some reason to change his angle and go behind the other player, even though the other player is not sprinting.
Players randomly jump over the ball for no reason when attempting to recieve a pass. Zidane jumps over a ball directly at his feet and it goes out. No I am not pressing the sprint button at this time or any button for that matter, it just does it randomly.
Mainly its the passing though. You tell it to do something and it does something completely different and is extremely frustrating. My friend let me borrow it earlier in the week and I didn't believe him (as I had only played WE8 before then) and it really does happen. These things are crazy.
You tell me that these things have never happened to you, or that these things happen in real life because this game is so realistic?
How about wingers deciding not to make runs to the outside, instead coming inside TOWARDS my player with the ball. MAKE THE RUN YOU TWAT. But no! Alas it does not happen.

you have no control over your players. I tell him to pass forward he attempts a through-ball to some idiot across the screen, getting intercepted on the way. You have total control over your players. Occasionally the passes arent as accurate, but other than that, you need to actually direct your passes with the analog stick. They arent automated.
I try to a standing-tackle an opp player with the ball... (my defender is coming towards the dribblers btw) my player decides for some reason to change his angle and go behind the other player, even though the other player is not sprinting. Like I said, you need to control the player and holding speed burst or Turbo or whatever, all the time will get you beat like that. Also you have to basically control it completely and time it well.
Players randomly jump over the ball for no reason when attempting to recieve a pass. Zidane jumps over a ball directly at his feet and it goes out. No I am not pressing the sprint button at this time or any button for that matter, it just does it randomly.Pressing R1 makes your player step over the ball, or let it run between their legs. Since you said you are not doing that, I really dont know how to help you. It barely happens for me.
You tell me that these things have never happened to you, or that these things happen in real life because this game is so realistic? Honestly, these things rarely happen to me, and when they do it isnt such a problem to make me say the game is shite.
How about wingers deciding not to make runs to the outside, instead coming inside TOWARDS my player with the ball. MAKE THE RUN YOU TWAT. But no! Alas it does not happen.Again, rarely happens for me. When I see my winger has space, I dont wait, unless there is a man on him. If there is a man on him, I run towards that man to draw him towards me then release him. If there isnt a man, I just play it as soon as I see it. Dont waste any time.
It doesnt happen to me. The only thing that annoys me really, is the foul calls. Apart from that, I would say the game is crap.

I've been playing the new EA World Cup game and it's pretty entertaining. I need to increase the difficulty level because I'm too dominant, but I'm going to wait until I finish qualifying.
One interesting thing that I noticed: Ronaldo often drifts inside for the Portugal team.

Now that's something I'm going to have to agree with. From my experience, Criticisms of the game have come mainly from those who do not play football in real life. Those who do like and appreciate the WE series do play the sport. Just an observation.

Err... your suppose to use the analog stick? I was told to use the D-Pad and thought the analog stick was for dribbling or something. No wonder.
edit: which analog stick are you refering to as well? And is this stick use for all movement as well as passing????????

WE is easily the best footie simulation ever. The race isn't even close. If you are having problems with passing I suggest changing the view so you can see a bit more of the field and if you aren't going to manual pass, which is quite difficult when you get started then have patience, you'll see a pattern in the passing. It seems random, ie if you are passing diagonally left and there are 2 players in that quadrant you don't at first know which player it will go towards, but eventually you'll see the pattern.
Also, super-cancel is your friend... r1, r2, L1, L2 all at once will cancel the player's run and give you full control.

Though WE is clearly a superior game to FIFA, I also have some of the problems that Striker mentioned. To make a note, I'm playing it on my laptop with the keyboard, so you can attribute some things to that, but there are some issues with passing that I see time and time again that are bloody infuriating.

If you're playing w/ a Laptop you can't be serious about playing WE. Its a man's game. That's like drinking beer from a sippy cup!
I'll just say this... for everyone, even the foaming at the mouth fifa fanboys, who takes time to get into WE they love the game. Everyone... Ive never met anyone who played WE and got used to it fully who didn't like it.
By used to it fully I mean you can beat the cpu on 5 star. If you can't do that, you haven't started to play.

I've been playing it constantly since I downloaded it and in general love it (though I'm still playing on 4 stars because I'm such a novice :D ), but there are some problems that exist with the game that become frustrating, especially when these problems occur at key moments in a match.

to execute the manual pass you have to push in on the analog stick and hold it to determine how hard you pass it and then push the direction you wan't the pass to go in.
Its not necessary though. I can and do beat 6 star without it.

Does anyone know of a website where I can find the list of the names of all the secret players on WE9? I've been trying to go through and edit all of the names in, but I can only get the obvious ones. :o

Thanks for the help benni, but I found a list on IGN that seems pretty accurate. Looks like it's going to take a long time to type all of those names in though.
