To those wondering why I bought Vicente when I already had Messi (and for a time Giggs), the simple reason is that he was transfer listed (lord knows why) and available for 14m. Too damn good of an offer to pass up. And Vicente really doesn't start ahead of Messi, it really depends on who is fit. It's absolutely amazing how one is in the form of his life while the other is out for 2 months with a torn ligament. They really are quite interchangable, although I slightly prefer Vicente when both are fit (those rare occasions that only last for a match or two at the most, it's like a rule that one of them needs to be crocked) because his technical ratings are ever so slightly higher, which makes sense considering the age gap. Messi would be a first teamer and the best player on any other team but mine though.

Before I lost 10 games in a row with United. and quit to lead Betis back to glory, Rooney really does tear it up. He can single handedly destroy teams.
Right now, Saha, Howard, and Vidic have all returned to join me at Betis. Along with Besagno and Maduro (good at CB with Vidic). Ricardo Oliveira is ********ing man, though.
Also, still wanting to play a network game if anyone is interested sometime this weekend. ;)

i tried downloading tactics when i was getting furious during the end of my last season where my squad were losing every single game no matter the team. but when i looked in the tactics section the ones i dl'ed weren't there. i put them in the tactics folder in the data folder but in the game there isn't anything there. im sure this is something stupid and obvious, any info for me would be nice. thanks.
i could do a network game this weekend but it also would have it to be at night.

Well, really I'd want to run it for a while just whenever everyone gets time run a few weeks or whatever.
But to your question, I believe the game looks for tactics in my documents and then sigames, etc. Not in the game file.

as far as the network game thing goes, that sounds good to me.
im trying the tactics thing now, ill let you know if it works.
still getting pissed, just lost 4-3 to man city, had a man sent off in the 12th minute, came back from 3-1 down to tie 3-3 at half time, then lost to a 20yard shot that went right through my keeper. my team missed two breakaways as well...

On FM2006 tactics are no problem I've got them sorted, the thing that really pisses me off is that I can't get a good training schduale that doesn't make it so I have to rotate every single one of my midfielders and forwards towards the end of the season!

You gotta fluctuate the intensity of your training sessions. Heavier from the beginning of the season and slightly lighten them as the season progresses. The only reason I rotate is to keep my players happy and match fit, not because of a lack of fitness from my first teamers.

You mean you have to actually pay attention to training?! I liked it better when you just set it at the start of the season and left it for the next 6 seasons.:D

Heh I guess so. It isn't too time consuming, you just go to training -> players and then adjust the little bar for training intensity.

FM2005 was better for training, infact it was a better game all round.

Thats kinda how WE8 was to WE9.

Nah, I like WE9 better because you cant just run through people now. Once you get used to how not to foul, its fun.

Glad to see I'm not the only FM 2006 addict out there.
On the forum at SIgames there's a lower league manager section where they believe that the game should be played in a certain way. They say it's the most realistic way and most like real football but it basically translates to the hardest way to play the game in every single aspect.
Of course the sadist in me just had to have a go at their official challenge which was to get Workington (newly promoted to the Conference North IRL this season) into the Championship division. It took until the 2019/20 season but I finally did it and got them into Europe last season too after an FA Cup final appearance. Currently they are sitting in 3rd place in the Championship after 10 games.
If you're up for a challenge or are just a sad bastard like me then I reccomend you check it out and have a go. The only downside is that it's turned me into a bit of a snob and I find myserf turning my nose up at all you guys playing as United/big teams. :D
Oh, and I'm up for an online game too if someone can get it organised.

thats true but I was talking about player training. It was easier to develop young guns in the WE8. But overall WE9 is way better.

yeah i've kinda always wanted to try the lower league managing thing, but have abstained because
a) i get pissed off easily in fm, which would increase with the higher difficulty of llm
b) i could see me easily becoming too obsessed with the game...ie, forgetting to go drinking, to buy hookers etc. (the regular stuff in life)
c) im just not very good at the game to start with.
although ive always enjoyed those people on the si boards who get pissed at those who use big clubs, i guess they just kinda forget it's a game. the whole
"You don't know fm unless you've taken rushden to the champions league final in 8 years" attitude.
d) i would probably be like that if i had any success with a lower league team.

Good point mate, you don't want to end up like me.

I knew I'd been playing it alot but ******** me, I was shocked by that. It works out at just over 3 1/2 hours a day since I got the game. Ok, alot of the time I was doing other stuff on the net/playing poker etc whilst running the game in the background but that's still got to be unhealthy.
Time to put it away for a while, if not permanantly methinks.

And here I was thinking that I was the only FM2006 fiend in the Utd section.

Just found out that the clock keeps running even if you're not playing the game and have left it running while you're out/at work/asleep or whatever. This is something that I do quite alot as it usually takes a good 5-10 minutes for the game to save on my machine and whilst saving it freezes up my computer completely and I can't do anything else so often I don't bother.
Lol, sounds like I'm in denial and it makes me feel a bit better about it but not much so I'm definitely gonna give it a rest for a while. Maybe I'll buy a copy of WoW instead. :D
