After having so many years of a shit team, it would 'shit' that costs our good team the place they deserve. Some may call that irony, i call it bollocks.

My housemate annoys me greatly at the moment. It's a long story, but there are several factors.

1: he's a twat.
2: he's a messy and selfish twat.
3: he supports west ham ardently.
4: he's going out with a girl i have had several 'incidents' with, and it doesn't bother either of them that we live in the same house.
5: they kept it very secret from me while i was trying to get with her.
6: as a result i feel a total tit and don't trust either of them.
7: i had known her for 7yrs and him for 3.
8. with friends like that who needs enemies.

Reading the Arsenal forum.

I have a number of Arse fans that I consider friends (in the US soccer fans have to hang around each other - there just aren't that many of us so those of us that are serious and dedicated fans/players tend to gravitate together). They are good folks and we have good banter during the season so I can't say I hate all arse fans. The posters on bigsoccers arsenal forum are 99.9% absolute retards (I apologize to the .1% who aren't mushy headed morons) - I don't go over there and post anything b/c I'm not a dimwitted troll like most of them are, but just reading the idiotic drivel that is posted there makes me wonder about the inbreeding situation. Did all of these people grow up in a nuclear power plant? Or did their mothers just smoke crack while they were in the womb? IDIOTS!!

without downplaying your annoyance with the arse boards, i have to admit that, in the past, i've posted over there quite a bit, and the primary reason has been that it's usually been a quite good forum for a bit of banter. there have always been a handfull of pinheads, but it's been quite well moderated, and there have been plenty of really decent fellows over there who seem to 'get it' (at least commensurate with my perceptions of 'getting it').

but this week has been absolutely bizarre over there. events of last sunday could not have gone any better for them, and they have resulted in a level of bitter vitriol that i wouldn't have imagined if we'd finished 4th. it's like the few morons, who in the past have been kept in their place, have mutinied and taken over the ship. it's weird. some of the usually decent posters over there have joined in the smallness, and most of the excellent posters have just gone quiet* - or maybe they're just riding it out. who knows?

don't get me wrong, it's their board, so i'm not going to get bent out of shape about it. we're not always the most accomodating to them, either. but in the past, i've usually found them to be (as you say your gooner freinds are) "good folks, and we have good banter." but the mood's changed a bit this week, that's for sure.

oh, well. i'm still throwing one out over there every now and again. maybe things will come good. and maybe i'm the moron. either way, i suppose i'm ok with it.

*actually, that's not fair. a day or two ago, one of the more idiotic responses to one of my posts was addressed by a handfull of some of their 'good guys' (including mods), who were, as usual, very cool. but i have to admit, their decency was a much starker contrast to the rest of the forum's flavor than in the past, when decency was more the norm, and blatant stupidity was the embarrasing cousin in the corner.

They're showing their love of assnal in their minds. There was one in the chel$ea board who made a post about hating us and we were this and that etc. The ********ing guy is from Hoboken or somewhere! :D

Needless to say I was devastated and will have to think long and hard before venturing into that board again. I mean a chel$ea "fan" in Hoboken doesn't think highly of Spurs - we're doomed.

it's one of the few great legal scams going. textbook publishers know that they will have a fresh market every new semester. and they hate the manner in which a used book market develops every semester to tap into 'their' markets. so what do they do? they deliberately update/revise every major textbook every couple of years, whether there's any substantive developments or not. their objective is to make as much of the used book supply obsolete as possible.

so, even though last semester's microbiology text contains no different information than the new 'revised' edition, the fact that they've switched chapters around, and put in different graphics, renders the old ones worthless, because departments are only going to require texts that they know are readily available from the publishers.

though some university bookstores will gouge, as well, even those who don't will end up looking like bastards. but it's usually not thier fault - it's the publishers.

Back in my college days, we would swap UPC code stickers. Don't know if that is still possible. I would walk out of the bookstore with $500-600 worth of books and have paid less than half of that. Then selling them back isn't quite so painful...and occasionally profitable!
