I dont really follow La Liga too much so can anyone fill me in on how Giuly has been playing lately and if he is getting more playing time than before?

I'd like to see him in the squad that goes to Germany so I hope he's been doing well as of late.

messi has pretty much cemented his place i think, so i'm assuming ludo's appearances have been limited to subs or the occasional start.

He probably needs to find a new team.

Bring him to Lyon :)

Bring him to Lyon :)you mean back to lyon ;) ? if govou leaves, which is a distinct possibility, he'll be a great addition behind wiltord. if not he'll play even less than at barça, since L1 is more physical than spain, and, as much as i appreciate his acceleration and technique, you don't have to get the XL flyswatter out to bring him down!

watching the la liga highlights from the last weekend, giuly was awesome down the right. meaning, imo, that he still merits the call up.

He isn't a starter but he is doing good every time he comes in and he definitely needs to go to the world cup.

you could say that that Barca wouldn't be in the CL final if it weren't for Giuly because he scored the only goal of the 2 games. I understand Domenech was at the game when he scored so let's hope he was impressed.

Well, I hear everywhere that Ribéry should be in the French team because he's been so great this season... but honnestly, the only thing which Ribéry does is running. Of course he runs all the time and that brings pace to the team so it's a crucial quality, but in that kind I'm a lot more impressed by the style of Ludovic Giuly which I find a lot more pleasant to watch.
Clearly, I would pick Ludo in my list, and not Ribéry, if I had to choose between the two.

I really believe Ludovic can bring something to the team and can be decisive in case we are neutralized by the team in front. The thing is that everyone hope Zidane and Henry will be in a good shape for the World Cup because the team relies on them. Actually, I tend more and more to believe that if we would win the World Cup, it would be because other guys like Giuly, Wiltord or Malouda would be in good shape and they would surprise the opponents focusing strictly on Zidane and Henry.

I remember a stat which was saying that Thierry Henry was the best striker in the French team currently and that Zinédine Zidane has made the most assists (passes décisives) in the French team currently. Despite this, the French team has never scored on a pass from Zidane on Henry. It's just too obvious that Zidane would give the ball to Henry and as a result opponents are always obsessed about avoiding this to happen. Does that mean Henry and Zidane shouldn't play together ? Certainly not, I believe it simply means that the surprise should come from other players having less attention on them. Players like Giuly, Rothen, Malouda, Wiltord and so on and so forth. Now we just have to hope that those players will play well during the World Cup !
