Can anyone who was at the reserve match against Charlton give their impressions on Sol's performance?
I have to admit, I'm torn. On one hand, I know how awesome Big Sol can be for us when he's on. And yet, he's had a stinker of a year (to be kind about it). Although at the height of his powers, he's the rock of our defense. But still, I'm wary about seeing him back in the starting XI with so much on the line in the CL and the Prem. (Ah, the equivocation...)
So any words you could offer to con"sol"e me would be much appreciated.
(And erm, sorry 'bout the lame pun. ;) )

whatever may happen, you can be certain that he'll have the best interests of his club and you, the supporters, in his heart.
did that help?

Im excited about him coming back because even though he has had a poor season, I think that Senderos has also. Sol when he comes back will be imo playing hard so that he can show Sven he can make the England squad.

Not really, I don't think Sol Campbell worries about the supporters or the club. All he is ever worried about is himself.
He worried that he would end his career with nothing to show for it so he moved to a club that could provide him with success. Five years later, with two championship winners medals (the same number that he would have achieved if he had played for Spurs since 1882) and an FA Cup Winners medal he clearly made a shrewd, albeit selfish move.
I suspect Ledley King is going through the very same process right now.

well, one never knows until the paperwork's all done. a bit like henry, i suppose. but going back to ...
Not really, I don't think Sol Campbell worries about the supporters or the club. All he is ever worried about is himself.
emphasis on 'all'. surely player will put their interests above their club's (or it's fans). no quarrels there. but one likes a bit of respect for the club and fans that pay his wages. and when a player professes it, it's fair to expect it.
when henry makes his regular statements about how much the club (arsenal) means to him, i, for one, think there's something in it. does it mean he'll put arsenal above his own interests? no. most folks here are quite reasonable in hoping he stays, but that if things don't work out, "thanks for what you've done, and good luck to you". that would neither make him an ass, nor render meaningless his professions of affection for arsenal.
but what if, at the last moment, 'henry to barca' turns out to be 'henry to spurs'? ok, stop laughing. let's make it more tangible - 'henry to chelsea'. would gooners then be saying, "well, he's moved on to a club which offers him greater chance for success. good on him."? "he loves london, and his english wife. why wouldn't he prefer chelsea to spain?"
at the very least, that would be two fingers up to the arsenal and its fans. and it would make a mockery of his prior professions of respect for both. in that scenario*, he'd catch a bit of grief from gooners, i suppose. and he'd deserve it. at least that's how i see it. if you lot disagree, well, that's up to you. frankly, i doubt that you're that much 'better' than us.
*it should go without saying that this is no wind-up. i don't for a moment suspect that henry would go to chelsea. and the only reason (because, face it, henry to chelsea would be a logistically sound move) is because i do not think that the grimster's last quoted sentence applies to henry as it does to sol campbell.
as for this:
No, but I'm glad it still hurts so much.
well, i'm not sure it 'hurts' so much, anymore. no one at spurs would take campbell for either king or dawson now, on form alone. that's not even taking age, wages, or general bastardity into account.
still (despite the evidence of this now lengthy post), spurs fans don't really give sol campbell much thought. granted, though, his mention will be able to provoke responses, if not a tinge of revulsion, for awhile. barca fans have the world at their feet right now - but when you mention figo ...

I live in a Spurs area and I can assure you it still hurts, I mean really hurts!!
Personally I think they should forget about it - but they won't let it lie! :D
Of course you, living in Indiana as you do, may have more insight into the situation than me.

true that! it's common knowledge - if you really want to put your finger on the pulse of north london, go to fort wayne, indiana.

OK, let me ask a question that has been bugging me. If all backs were healthy, who is your starting four?
I have to say, I do like the speed that we have had at RB and LB lately. I woul dlike a more physical presence in the CBs but, Senderos has shown a bit of a mean streak at times. Granted Sol looks like he could rip your friggin' head off due to his sheer size.
As far as I am concerned, I'd rather have the money from Ashley Cole's sale than have him. Problem is, with his constant state of injury, I don't know if he is still worth what we'd like to get for him on the market.
Curious as to what everyone thinks.

If all the defenders were healthy (and at the top of their game) then Toure and Sol in the centre, Cole on the left (I'd rather have the player, not the money) and probably Lauren, but Eboue is playing soo well, that it's a very tight thing, I could well swing by the end of the season...
....waits for joke...;)
