Season 6 (http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/the_surreal_life_6/series.jhtml) kicked off yesterday (Sunday, 3/19/05) and will no doubt repeat throughout the week until next Sunday's new episode.

This time around the housemates are:

Sherman Helmsley (George Jefferson from The Jeffersons)

Steve Harwell (lead singer of Smashmouth)

C.C. Deville (guitarist from Poison)

Tawny Kitaen (1980's Whitesnake video vixen)

Andrew Lowell (cover girl of Playboy TV)

Alexis Arquette (transgender actor and brother of Patricia, Rossana and David Arquette)

Florence Henderson (Carol Brady from The Brady Bunch) won't be staying at the house with the rest of the cast, but will visit each day to serve as the show's "on-call therapist/adviser".

Not all that much actually happened in the first episode except that the cast had to choose from a pool of reality show "hunks" to be their final roommate. They eventually chose Maven Huffman (http://mavenhuffman.com/articles/144628705.shtml).

Though judging from the season preview shown at the end of the episode, the season should get more interesting as it goes along. :D

Don't feel like looking it up but isn't Tawny Kitaen the daughter of Raquel Welsh?

Something about Florence henderson I always thought was sexy. I heard she had an affair with one of the children on the Brady Bunch the older brother.

I heard that she was arrested for physically attacking her second husband (then-pitcher Chuck Finley) and had custody of her children taken away from her.

According to this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawny_Kitaen), her mother was former beauty pageant queen Linda Taylor.

yeah, she beat the shit out of him. he let her do it because he didn't want to hit a women or face a lawsuit for hitting her, even if it was self defense.

This week's episode had the gang shooting a new Smashmouth video in under 24 hours, with Tawny Kitaen as the video's producer.

She kept the props ridiculously (according to the other castmates) under-budget, clashed with Florence Henderson and generally got on everyone else's nerves. It was only after Steve Harwell finally took control of things that it all got completed on time.

Next week: the group does a live news telecast.

The video sucked and the song was awful. Smash Mouth blows.

The new episode this week (Part 1 of 2, the second of which will air next week) features the group given a suprise stint at producing a news program for KSBY in San Juis Obispo. Alexis Arquette is named the executive producer and everyone else is given various roles.

The episode ended with them about to go on air and not nearly as prepared as they should be. Part 2 will apparently be very chaotic...

Today's Part 2 started about one minute before the news broadcast began. Andrea Lowell (yeah, I accidentally wrote "Andrew Lowell" in this thread's first post... oops! :o ) and C.C. Deville presented their reports great, Tawny Kitaen did fairly well until anchorwoman Florence Henderson threw her an unexpected question, and Sherman Helmsley fumbled his way through presenting the weather yet nevertheless charmed the studio crew.

Alexis Arquette (as the executive producer), Steve Harwell and Maven weren't onscreen for any of the news broadcasts.

Afterwards, the whole gang went out to eat when a whole bunch of guys starting harassing Alexis and started hitting on Andrea. After some angry outbursts by Alexis, the whole cast went home.

Next week: The cast gets its own talk show, though I'm not sure if it's a collective effort or if each castmember gets one individually. In any case, Tawny invites Florence as a guest on her "talk show" and is making no secret that she plans to "get Florence back" for having had the unexpected question asked of her during the newscast.

Today's episode was indeed as described, but it was a Part 1 of 2.

Each contestant were to each host a ten-minute segment in front of a live audience that would be judging how they did. The winner will get to host the season's "lost footage" episode at the end of the season. Each host got to either choose from a pre-arranged list of guests (which included Florence Henderson) or call in their own.

Steve Harwell and Maven decided team up as co-hosts while everyone else decided to go solo (C.C. Deville and Sherman Helmsley were about to co-host, but Florence Henderson convinced Sherman to host on his own). Tawney chose Florence and didn't hide the fact that she was going to hit her with some hard questions.

The actual talk-show segments air in next week's Part 2.

Not sure if anyone knew this, I sure didn't.

Alexis Arquette was the "Do you really want to hurt me..." singer in 'The Wedding Singer'. :D

Last week's Part 2 of 2 had the gang conducting their talk shows. Most notably, Tawney really went after her guest Florence in the rudest way, yet Florence unflinchingly deflected all of the shots at her and overwhelmingly won over the audience, which pretty much killed any chance of Tawney winning the competition. In the end, C.C. ended up winning the highest audience approval rating and will host the "lost footage" episode at season's end.

After everyone returned to the house, Tawney had a dramatic "sinus attack" and went to bed, upset that no one backed her up on attacking Florence (though Andrea kinda sympathized with Tawney since she also seemed to be getting a bit "fed up" with Florence).

-----

Today's episode had the gang compete in a "rock-off" against a professional Poison tribute band (the irony of which was not lost on C.C.), with Tawney as the manager. She seemed extremely confused and bossy, pissing off both Alexis and Steve enough that they both (at different times) angrily stomped off from rehearsal. They both eventually came back and the group rehearsed some before heading off to the competition.

Once there, the group barely won the rock-off and donated the $5000 winnings to charity, though Andrea became more upset at Florence's unspoken but obvious disapproval there of Andrea's sexy behavior onstage. The frustrated Andrea let Maven know about it that night at the house's pool.

Next week: Florence discusses with each castmember certain behavioral problems that she's witnessed thus far (including footage), which seems to piss off Andrea enough to try and leave.

This week's episode basically had the gang going out to eat breakfast and Tawney acting all loopy.

When they all returned back to the house, Florence was waiting for them, advice and footage in hand to dispense to each castmember. Everyone seemed to be satisfied with the advice given except for Tawney and Andrea, though neither of them said so to Florence or the rest of the group.

After Florence left, though, Andrea got so pissed off at no on else standing up for her during the session that she almost stormed out of the house.

Next week: The group's final meal together, and apparently the answer (or at least more hints answered) to why Tawney's been acting so loopy lately.

I was a fan last season. This season has been unwatchable. :(

I agree that something seemed to be missing this season. When I first heard that this coming weekend's episode will be the season finale, my first thought was "Already? ".

I missed the first two seasons of the show, but judging from the rest, it seems that Season 3 set the bar as far as balancing interesting personalities and interesting conflicts ("Flavor Flaaaaaaaaaaaaaav!"), while Season 5 was kept interesting by the epic Omarosa - Janice Dickinson war (funny how that season's first episode played up how José Canseco would be the potential trouble... as it turned out, Canseco and dirtbiker Carey Hart were the two most normal castmembers that season :D ).

This season was more reminiscent of the somewhat-forgettable Season 4, though at least that season had some memorable moments such as a drunk Vern Troyer peeing in a corner and the romance that blossomed between Adrianne Curry and Christopher Knight.

In any case, there's also a Season 6 "Behind-the-scenes" episode hosted by C.C. DeVille scheduled to be aired sometime in the next few weeks.
