Silvinho was just picked by Bluto. No comment.

Question I asked towards the end of last thread: Whether to vote best team at the end of the draft or have a judged tournament.

phishy on the clock for last 19 hours but we should have a post-St.Patrick's Day extension if he doesn't check in by tonight, right? :D

Judged tournament would be kind of cool- how would that work? Do we present a case for our team prior to each round, or do we just let people debate and vote for each round?

To be honest I think the judged thing would work... shows more interest, and I would even have the other Gooners on here debate as well so it's not just us who picks the best team... I think that would be a good idea. as long as there are debates with evidence presented.. That's just what I think. I'm open to anything to be honest.

I'd follow a format like the one they used in the The Beautiful Game board for their drafts.

We'd need a few (3) judges. We'd set up a little knockout tournament (probably with an uneven group stage instead of straight knockout because Miles dropped out). Then you look at your team and the team you are facing and come up with a plan to beat them. Basically you list your players starting formation, a gameplan that covers your plan of attack and how you can counter the other side (players you'll try to man mark, weaknesses you'll try to exploit, ways to cover for your side's weaknesses, etc.). You send that to the judges. They decide on their own who they think would win based on their knowledge of the players and how the two gameplans would work against eachother. The team that gets the most "winner" votes from the judges wins. If we get 3 good judges it shouldn't be too hard.

That would be my suggestion. More fun than just a single poll on the "best team".

I'd like to volunteer to be a judge. I think I'd be good at it since I think I'm pretty well read on the club and I didn't pick so I could be fairly objective.

i know its a little early but can i suggest we get one supporter who resides(permanently) in UK, one in US, then another one from somewhere else.

or 1 london, 1 outside london but in UK, 1 US, 1 other.

london judge counts for 2 votes.

i say AT makes his pick, but then it is back to phishy, so he will have another window and can make both of his picks in a row.

St Paddy's day was friday. if you haven't recovered by now then there is something seriously wrong with you!

was he off limits because he was discussed in the other thread??I've already said why I think he shouldn't have been picked at this point. I don't want to name unpicked players but there are still guys with great Arsenal careers at his position that haven't been picked. He was a great player but didn't stay long enough to go above those guys in my opinion. However, its not a worse pick than some of the other guys that we've seen because he did at least have a good overall career to support his value. Not a big deal just my preference to have guys that had great Arsenal careers as we discussed in the last thread.

Yeah AT can pick now. Phishy will then have 24 more hours to do both his picks. Fair.
