Hey everyone. Finally got my pictures up from my trip to london last weekend.
My London and THOF photos (http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandingSignin.jsp?Uc=10czd8ng.m6vex8o&Uy=-yu16ri&Upost_signin=Slideshow.jsp%3Fmode%3Dfromshare&Ux=0)
I flew in Friday evening (missing the Highbury tour), got settled, had a few hand-pulled pints of Fullers and lamb vindaloo and called it a long day.
Saturday, I must have walked five or six miles. Natural History Museum, tube to Westminster Abbey, to Trafalgar Sq., along the Strand, down to the Embankment, back to Parliament, over to the Tate British Museum. Had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Yossarian at a pub...an excellent time!
Sunday, I went up to Highbury early, about 11 (4 PM kick-off) and wandered all over the neighborhood. I'd been to THOF before but it was great to have some time to get re-acclimated to where everything is. Especially the pubs!
Met Yoss and shortly after Rick and Simon. Four of us had brunch...good to lay in a foundation before drinking! Hung out outside Finsbury Park station meeting everyone else (including an older Irish guy who's parents used to own the Arsenal Tavern!). Everyone who forgot a hat snagged an O2 hat thanks to Simon. Down past the stadium again and over to the Tavern. It was so great to meet Judy and Dave and the UK goonahs. It was also fun to meet so many US folks...everyone had a big grin on their face: Rashida and arsenalmc58 and In the Sun and mpeabody. And it was especially fun to have a special BigSoccer guest at The Tavern. ;) And the Tyrolian Supporters Club...well they're just what you'd expect from a bunch of Austrians...krazy!
My seats in the lower North Bank were good..and the folks sitting by me were great too. Not like the boring old farts in West Upper the last time I went. Mayhem when Henry scored his second.
Well, the post-game pub crawl was what you'd expect. Well, the stripper was unexpected! But following the Austrians around Blackstock Road led to much smoking and drinking...aber sehr spass! And a humanitarian medal to Chris and his bud for putting me in a car home at 12:30 after we left the T-Bird.
I didn't get out of bed until 1:00 the next day. So much for the British Museum! I wandered around Harrods though since it was down the street, and headed home.
A million thanks to you Rick. Wish we would have had more time to hang out..next time hopefully! And to all the other UK goonahs...anytime you're in New England, the Boston area Gooners are at your disposal!
Peace....
