I like that game better as well since the Astros are playing the Rangers.

And as for a Houston OT forum, I'm down with that as well. Could make for an easier way for everyone to get to know each other. I look forward to starting these threads:

"Which is better TV, Lost or Battlestar Galactica?"
"Will McGrady ever not be injured?"
"Is Kellie Pickler for real or is it an act?"
"Does green beer taste different than normal beer?"

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

I don't think we'll need a whole OT forum. Just an OT thread where we can talk about anything. I think with the supporter's group forum, it would be clogging things up a bit to add another one for OT.

"Will McGrady ever not be injured?" Who?
"Is Kellie Pickler for real or is it an act?" No, that's probley her.
"Does green beer taste different than normal beer?" It all comes out of the same horse.;)

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

If the answer is 42, what is the question?

Gee, I dunno - on the Riot Squad board we had seperate forums for both "All Sports" and "Riot Squad Heckling" (random OT weirdness, like music and TV). I won't bother trying to sneak in a link, it's on That Site Which Cannot Be Spoken On Big Soccer. Would BS let us have an OT forum as a subforum of supporter's group?

OT even for the OT Astros thread, but it's still baseball: now making its way around Houston in email:

In response to their defeat against Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, Team USA has officially changed their name to "USA 1836". Said losing pitcher Roger Clemens, "Viva San Jacinto!!!"

We've had some discussion about whether we want to have an OT forum or an OT thread for "off-topic", NSR (non-soccer related) types of discussions. Some other forums have an OT subform (see the Crew forum for an example).

This random discussion thread is for talking about things like TV, movies, music, restaurant reviews, cool or annoying things that happened to you at work or school today, etc. Regular posters in a forum sometimes just like having this sort of thread where they can talk about random stuff with people they know from the forum.

Let's gauge interest by having this random OT thread for a while. If people really like the idea and start having multiple discussions, then we can see about adding an OT subforum to this main forum.

1. Here's a better response - is there anyone else out there who NEVER watches prime-time non-sports network TV anymore? I guess I followed Twin Peaks for a while - before that MASH, before that All In The Family. IOW, I've never watched, even in reruns, an entire episode of "Cosby," "Friends," "Seinfeld," "Desperate Housewives," etc. Now if you're talking "The Sopranos," "Deadwood," or "Six Feet Under," (or for that matter, "Celebrity Poker Showdown" or "Space Ghost Coast to Coast") that's a different story. I always joke that once they invented ESPN, it was all over for me and the major networks.

2. Isn't it funny how having 18-year-olds play 82 games w/adult men can kind of age them quickly?

3. Is that one of those Idol people? See answer 1 above.

4. I'm trying to remember if I ever had green beer during my drinking days - surely must have. My only issue was, did it actually have alcohol in it?

Bingo. The last non-sports, non-news show I watched with any regularity was "Home Improvement" back in college. In fact, as far as the networks go... I haven't even watched news on them since about the time of the Gulf War (1991). Today... the only channels I really need are The ESPNs, the regional sports networks from around the country (on DirecTV), OLN, CSTV, the Fox Soccer Channel, GOAL, the NHL Center Ice package, the Fox News Channel, MSNBC (Scarborough Country and Hardball with Chris Matthews only), CNBC (for Larry Kudlow... although I thought his show was better when Kramer was on it too), the History Channels (every now and then), and the networks when they show sports.

You guys are really missing out on some good television. Sure there's crap sitcoms out there, but there are a few diamonds in the rough. If you have Netflix, rent the first season of Lost (shown on ABC) and of the new Battlestar Galactica (SCIFI channel).

Lost is by far the best show on TV. Earl, CSI, Without a Trace, Family Guy, and South Park are also good shows.

I'd also add The Shield on FX to the TV-doesn't-suck-as-much-as-it-used-to list.

Seriously, what's a Kelli Pickler?

And by the time you're drinking green beer, you really shouldn't be able to notice much difference anyway.

She's one of the girls on American Idol. Supposedly just a down home country girl from North Carolina but there is suspicion that she's selling herself that way to get more votes and she's really just faking it.

Yeah this is the first time I've ever even watched American Idol with any regularity. No green beer last Friday but I wasn't at an Irish pub anyway.

I just burned my hand so bad. I was trying to strain my spaghetti and I ended up splashing boiling water on my whole left hand. I've had ice on it for about 2 hours and it is still burning even with the ice.

OW!

Ouch! Try Aloevera or hit Walgreens for some burn creme/spray. Once I burned my hand and part of my leg after I fell into a camp fire. Suffice to say there was alcohol involved. I ended up going to the hospital because I had that same lingering burning feeling. :(

Hello

Hey I'm in a band called The Favorites...we have a little five song ep that we just finished up. We are officially releasing it tomorrow and the best news is, it's....

FREE....

simply go to www.thefavorites.net and you can click on a link to sign up for the download. Now I'm not the techie in the band that came up with this.. that would be our lead singer Jeremy Botter. He set this up.. now for some of the logistics...

I believe it's set up as a podcast... so you need Itunes...if you don't have the itunes program.... that's ok.. I'm sure we'll have another place to download the songs for you. Anyway..

some quick band info... we played together as a band named Burst from 1999-2002 or so... we built up a pretty good following in Houston. Took some time off and everyone is back except our drummer. Our lead singer is actually in the Army now and leaving for Iraq for his last stint. He leaves in April and gets out in November. The basic sound of the band is rock... but nothing heavy..think lots of poppy sounds in there.

Anyway, enjoy if you like...as I said.... it only costs you a little time to download it.......then you can do what you like with it....pass it on to friends, torture your cat or anyone else...

oh yeah, I'm the guitar player...
and there's also a site at www.myspace.com/thefavoritesmusic You can stream three of the songs there.

BSG baby!! Awesome show. Lost, on the other hand, I never got into...probably cuz I never watched it.

Now we just have to wait until October for the new BSG. It's a good thing I'll have the World Cup and some Dynamite to hold me over.
