haha yeah that was funny. I liked the one where people were fighting and Zenden was just dribbling the ball around. Oh, and they should have just shown the last 5 minutes of the usa v mexico match at the 2002 world cup. cobi jones got abused several times.

Grobbelaar and McManaman for me - very funny.

Very high wince factor in some of those tackles. Still don't know how Keane got away with the one on Alf-Inge Haaland.

On a brighter note...Robbie-Lily Savage got his first red card of his career today. About effing time.

Eh? He hardly got away with it and if anything, his punishment was too harsh.

If I went into work with a pre-meditated plan to kick someone and cause them harm, and I did that and broke their leg so badly that they could no longer carry out their professional duties and had to change their career, and then I publically admitted it, I think I'd be charged by the police.

Yes, he clearly got away with it.

I think not. For starters, he didn't cause any injury that forced Haaland to retire. Anyone who says any differently is just ignorant. Haaland had already publically admitted that Keane had nothing to do with his retirement, which is why Man City and their lawyers laughed him out the door when he claimed he was going to take legal action. We all know about the infamous black books of old and the fact that most players do look for a bit of revenge if they are able to get it. It's a fact of life. To punish Keane yet again for simply being honest, saying what everyone already knew and doing something that almost every single player is guilty of, is a joke. As for your police comment, if you wish to open that particular can of worms then get ready for the backlash. It's not a wise idea. :)

you must have never seen the tackle then. most players dont do that, only Keane and Michael Essien.

Loads of players have done stuff like that and even worse that resulted in actual injury. A bad tackle is a bad tackle. There isn't any real degree of seriousness or ranking. What Keane did was bad, what Essien does is bad, Bergkamp's various stamps are bad, as is any mistimed tackle... Is doing it for revenge any worse than just doing it normally? The problem is you cannot tell what the intention was unless the player is honest about it, like Keane. That is his only real sin here, his honesty. It also resulted in a further ridiculous ban.

Everyone, who isn't ignorant, knows that every single player has done something for revenge during their career. It happens, it's part of life and I bet you have done something for revenge in your life. Football is no different to that or any other sport. If you cannot it, then find a bridge. To claim that Keane is somehow the worst offender or different to anyone else is frankly ridiculous.

i think people hate on roy keane more because he doesnt need to resort to such thuggery. certainly not at that time when he was one of the best midfielders on the planet.

its like the whole deal with peyton manning in american football. alot of players choke but they hate on him because he is the most talented, etc.

i understand that everyone hates keane and ill be honest i dont like him either but he is a talented player and i understand the revenge he was after with the tackle but there is a fine line between a clumsy tackle and one with the intent to injure and tell me at what point was the ball at Haaland's knee?

If you look closely, Keane's stud slightly grazes the ball before it makes contact. ;)

Besides, any tackle that is not 'fair and legal' is an attempt to stop the player whatever the cost, so I don't see no fine line. If you are going in with the sole intention of stopping the player, an injury is to be expected and you cannot attempt to claim otherwise

So does that apply to any talented player that has done something wrong, or is it just Roy Keane?

---

Just here for the discussion, because I find it pretty stupid when people immediately name Keane and add fictitious crap surrounding Haaland whenever topics of this nature are brought up. The only thing that sets Keane apart from others was his honesty in the book, which resulted in a second punishment for one incident. That aside, he's no different to you or me.

Absolute bullshit. I can foul you a dozen ways which I know will never result in an injury. I can also break your ankle without much effort. Have you ever played or seen this game or do you simply enjoy spouting nonsense on internet messageboards?

I'm heading for a train, but will deal with the shite spouting above when I get back home.
