NO WE DON'T. Worst comes to worst Theo can play out there. SWP has really flopped at Chelsea and even when he has played he has not impressed me. There are better players out there than him that would be cheaper!

Anyone have a look at Aiden McGeady at Celtic or Chris Burke at Rangers?

I've battled this one around my head a great deal lately. Based on what I expect Chelsea to ask for him, no, SWP won't be worth the money. On the other hand...
I do think he'd be worth what Arsenal might've been willing to pay a year ago, or what was on the table for the Beast. If he's come to realize the need for proper roles and team chemistry then it might be easy to see how he could fit in at Arsenal. I appreciate his size and field presence, or at least what it was while at Citeh, and think that could be more important than what a young, (too?) lithe Mr. Walcott would provide. It also wouldn't hurt to gain some insight into the workings of the Chelski machine.
If his form is still capable of matching that of 2-3 years ago then SWP could be an asset to the club. Not for what Chelsea paid, of course, but it'd be a good option for Arsenal to consider if the price is right.

Theo? I'm thrilled for him that he's an alternate for the Engerland squad but I'm not ready to tap him as the next Rooney just yet. The boy has yet to lodge a notable minute or stat for Arsenal's top flight, so he'll have to remain a Prince for now. As such I don't know who's place he'd be taking among the current roster.
Thuram? Classic case of budget vs value. Money no object, I'd love to have him playing a Bergkamp like role in shepherding the young defenders for a year or two, but I think we all know his pay scale wouldn't match that role. Whenever I grasp a player/role scanerio like this I always coem to the conclusion that if such guidance is truly needed then that should come from the coaching ranks. No need to fill a roster and payroll spot with an overpriced teacher for practices.

O and i love how the agent dismisses the spurs
"Nothing against Tottenham but such a player should wait a bit until he gets an offer from a top-three club."

i would prefer darren bent, but weve been into that. if
we dont need a striker than i say let pires go and bring in a left winger and defensive minded midfielder

'twasn't an agent that said that, but it was Rudi Voeller, one of Germany's greatest strikers in the 80's and 90's. I didn't care for Voeller as a player, but I'm liking him a lot better today. Hilarious stuff.:D
You also have to consider that Voeller's quote technically rules Arsenal out since we finished FOURTH. I'm sure the player and his agent would let that slide for us though...
I still think we need to focus more on the flanks before we look at more strikers. However, I do like the fact that we are being linked to a developed player than another teenaged young and rising talent.

O ok, thought it was his agent, putting spurs where they belong.

WOW! "Pires" means "Worse" in French.
"Robert Pires will join Villarreal for two season, announces The Tuesday Equipe. The player, nearing the end of his contract with Arsenal, found an agreement with the leaders of the recent semi-finalists of the Champions' League.
"At 32 years, the French international will put an end to six seasons with the team under Arsene Wenger, despite his desire to remain in London. But faithful to their principles, the leaders of The Gunners would not prolong their proposition of another year.
"Arsenal would have to preserve the Cameroonian Alexander Song. Loaned by Bastia, the youngster of 19 years should soon sign a contract, specifies The Equipe"

Feyenoord's the fee hasn't been disclosed but its romourd to be between 3-5 mill. He's on the last year of his contract and refuses to sign a new one their hands are tied. I'll try and refind the link, though there isn't much about the deal just that its going to happen.

The song signing has nothing to do with Pires going to Villareal by the way (at leat i dont think). Song was going to sign whether or not Pires left. However, with Pires leaving, it will be interesting to see who we go for in the summer.

What's the likelihood of getting Nigel Reo-Coker? Slim to None? Possible? I realize that he's West Ham's captain, but West Ham seemingly have, for some reason, a near urgent obligation to sell their best young players, at least in recent history.
