Hello,
I'm currently playing for my school side at under 18 level and we are now in the latter stages of the national cup, so the standard of the games has taken a step up. Due to this i have been suffering from quite harsh cramp in my hamstrings and calf, which have forced me to come off early. ive been told to get fitter, improve my diet and take on more slat the day before a game, but i was wondering if anyone had any other special secrets for combatting cramp?

any help would be great

thanks gravy.

Hmm. I'd like to ask you one question: how do you wear your shin guards?

I used to have very frequent calf cramps. They stopped when I tried not doing the straps on my shin guards, and just letting my socks hold them up. Apparently they constrict blood flow and contribute to cramping. The cramps haven't been back since.

I stretch very well the night before, eat bannas, a good amount of water, and while playing if im not in the zone of action I try and catch a stretch while on the field ( I know you prolly think im super lazy) But if theres a throw in or a play im not involved in i just lean over and catcha quick hamstring stretch, and im usually good.

Buy some Magnesium and Calcium multi-vitiamins. I used to get really bad calf cramps and when I got ahold of these they all went away. Price is not too steep either..about 20 bucks a bottle.
