It's been a bit of a rough season so far; an idol of ours falling on a single result and his successor's "growing pains" consisting of a club-record 9 losses straight. But we're poised to avoid the drop and it could come as early as 5 of our last 9 matches.

But it isn't going to be easy. We have 2 derby games left and at least 2 against top-rated sides, including a visit on the final day to the current leaders Southend. We're also on a shortage of real quality strikers- Steve Brooker is doing the job of 2, Bas Savage is still in mortal fear of shooting, and our others are fighting off various maladies. It really could go any way, but right now we're on form- we've only lost 3 SINCE the 9-streak and are in the process of collecting receipts from the teams that stuffed us earlier.

REMAINING:

Gillingham (H), Tomorrow
Rotherham (A), Next week
Yeovil (H), April Fool's Day
Walsall (A) 8/4
Hartlepool (A) 15/4
Oldham (H) 17/4
Tranmere (A) 22/4
Swindon (H) 29/4
Southend (A) 6/5
Playoffs........ don't bet on it

City 6-0 Gillingham
Brooker 11
Carey 18,50
Skuse (pen) 45
Wilshire 68
McCammon 90

City were always in command of the game during the first half, but a tackle in the box that resulted in a red card resulted in the wheels coming off completely. When Carey scored his 2nd goal, even the scoreboard stared in disbelief for well over 5 minutes... Bas Savage was useless as a shooter as usual but helped build up the attack well by just hanging onto the ball (whilst he stayed on his feet mind you).

Calvin Andrew and Luke Wilkshire came on shortly after the 4th goal, and the former was somewhat ineffectual- the latter just adding more misery for the visting side. McCammon replaced Savage after the 5th, and right on the last minute before stoppage gave a rabid crowd the 6th goal they were clamouring for.

Another 3 points to safety, and a dozen short of the playoffs with a HUGE chunk out of our negative goal difference to show for it. Next up are fellow strugglers Rotherham next week.

It appears (albeit unconfirmed) that Marcus Stewart's gone on loan to Preston for the rest of the season. It's possibly the end of a rotten season, mainly due to not capitalizing on the few chances he's been given up front for us.

Sad, mainly because he's scored more than Bas Savage...
