I'm in a Houston area band called The Favorites... we just spent several months recording a five song ep...(it took months, but we actually worked on it for very short periods at a time due to our vocalist being in the Army..he gets out in November)
Anyway it's being released as a free PODCAST from Itunes.. you can go here to sign up for it... it will officially be released next Tuesday, but you can subrscibe to it now.

or if you just want to stream something, go to our myspace place
www.myspace.com/thefavoritesmusic
Love it, hate it, become indifferent to it...heck it's free no matter what...
For the record we are a pretty commercial sounding rock/alternapop band...at least to my ears...
My favorite bands are Fountains of Wayne and Jimmy Eat World if that says anything to anyone.
I'm the guitarist, and I sing backup and vocals on the verses of one song...

good luck with the band. but I wasn't able to stream it on my computer (and I've listened to myspace stuff before) ... so that's odd.

Certainly...
Now I'm very new to this board. I've been posting on big soccer for almost two years now....what exactly is the album draft. I just looked at the sticky...there is a lot of cool music up there.... is it some sort of rating system, or simple competition for our enjoyment?
Thanks for the help.

That is odd... I can't get on myspace from here at work.... but I'll check with my computer guy and see if anything is amiss...... I hate when things don't work when they should

It's a high stakes competition where the participants spend years training to win the ultimate prize. Much like those vaunted sports of figure skating and gymnastics, the results are subject to the vagaries of judges’ opinions and the outcomes are suspect. There’s a lot of behind the scenes wheeling and dealing and rumors of underhanded tactics, including bribes and kissing ass. All for the glory of being the named the best by a bunch of guys who spend their time discoursing on the merits of Rage Against the Machine vs. Rush on an internet bulletin board. Some of the participants hope a win will lead to product endorsements and commercial success. But most realize the entire competition is just an excuse to go spend more money on music.
Hmm…I wonder if these judges might have a hidden agenda here.

I'm sorry I thought this would be the appropriate place to talk about it at BIG SOCCER... It's not being sold and I will get no money from this.. so it must be the worst spam in the world....

Shut-up, clown.
Anyway.....
Sounds good, bford. Maybe I don't know what JimmyEatWorld and FoW mostly sound like, but you guys seem way mellower.
Best of luck!

Thanks for listening! We don't rock like Jimmy Eat World, (but I love them)
More in the power pop style like Fountains of Wayne, although I can't write lyrics as well as those guys..

Well, you've got to be pretty smart to go to Williams. Not that being smart means you can write lyrics.
