Yeah, actually i pretty much do. I just think its funny that people are rooting for "underdog" UCLA (alumni excluded). And people hating on Duke gets to me too, Coach K has built an incredible program without resorting to to the kind of shady crap that goes on all the time in college ball, and gets no respect, i don't get it. People are pissed because Dickie V blows smoke up his ass? Vitale thought Digger Phelps was a great coach, its his shtick. But its cool, Go Sled Dogs! ;)

i was rooting for UCLA simply based on my bracket. 3/4 last night! there was no way for me to get the other game right, so I'm happy!

Most of the people that hate Duke, do so for several reasons that are not directly related to Coach K personally.
1. They win a lot. See Chelsea now; Arsenal; United.
2. Their oh-so-clever student fans at Cameron.
Neither of those are Coach K's fault and I disagree with your comment that he gets no respect for the type of program he runs....to the contrary, I think he gets a great deal of respect and would say that all but the most pathological Duke haters concede that he's a great coach, who's created a great program.
As for Dickie V......I can't speak for everyone obviously but I know that a lot of people get sick of the fact that in addition to blowing smoke up Coach K's ass.....he also constantly prattles on about how smart the Duke players are. You constantly hear him during one of his ridiculous outbursts in a Duke game say..."all that and 1400 SAT's, baby...." and he seems to be talking about both the players and the students. That annoys people because it's simply not true. Just like any other big program, Duke recruits a guy as a basketball player first, student second. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.....but what's annoying is when Dick and others pretend that it's otherwise.

i have no problem with them winning. It is just that the Booyah network shoves Duke down the throats of the whole country. just an example, but the Duke v UNC game was on 3 channels at the same time. I realize it is a big game, but on 3 channels?? a little overkill.

you gotta admit anti, UCLA's been a bit of the underdog in the pac-10 to arizona, satanford, u-dub for a few years now. AND we had to suffer through 8 years of Steve Lavin too.

You guys could've warned us about Harrick, though. Our basketball program is still reeling from his "influence."

Yeah, but that pain is self inflicted. They hired Lavin, and stuck with him even when they knew he couldn't cut it. Why they didn't fire him the second Pitino left Kentucky, i'll never understand. That being said, UCLA is historically one of the best programs in the country. That they're doing backflips over beating a small school from Washington state only shows how far they've fallen.

Do you mean why didn't they fire Lavin when Pitino left the Celtics?

Is that what i mean? i forgot about Pitino's tenure with the Celts. Then again, it was very forgettable. My bad.

that Pitino question's been floating around Westwood for years. But it's Pitino, after all. 4 years and move on.

the late jim healy used to play a great jimmuh harrick sound bite. Jimmy meant to say "barnburner" but ended up saying "It's gonna be another BALLburner!"
ah, jimmuh...rode ed o'bannon and tyus edney's (and cameron dollar's)coattails to become the most improbable coach to win an NCAA title.

dude, if you dont think duke is shady, you are awfully naive.
the payroll at duke is just as big as texas, carolina, etc.

Yeah, i guess i forgot all those Duke recruiting scandals. Seriously, when was the last time you read about a Duke player even getting arrested? Trust me, James. I'm not naive, you're just cynical.

national duke-hate can be summed up in one word: VITALE.
Duke and K are a great program, no doubt. one of my classic sport memories is Duke-UNLV in 1991. BUT i dont need to hear how great they are every single day.
Plus...Andy Katz on ESPN is an idiot. 9 Sweet Sixteens (playing 16 and 8 seeds) in no way compares to going 10 for 12 in Final Fours.

i am very cynical, no question. :)
however, when did you hear michigan get busted when they got the "fab 5"?
a good friend of mine is one of those 5, and he told me all about the money/car he received from the program. was that in the media? no.
the NCAA tends to let it fly under the radar. you think it was coincidence that webber/rose/howard/jackson/king all chose michigan that season? it was very well paid for. (sorry using michigan as example, i just know what went on there, despite it not being a "scandal")
it happens, and duke is just as guilty.
(i dont like duke for spare white boys PG's with "hustle")
