Yeah, you're probably right, especially with that recruiting class OU has coming in next year. Five top prospects?! Wow, what's going on down there? Wait, don't answer that. ;) :D
Hey man, I'm a reporter not a fan...between the top five class and the NCAA investigation...a few more of my favorite sayings:
'if the shoe fits'
'if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...'

10-4 Good Buddy. I hear ya loud and clear. ;)
On a related note, this whole conversation has been reminding of the movie "Blue Chips". Which got me thinking about my other favorite basketball movies. "Hoosiers" is a given, but does anyone remember "One on One"? I loved that movie when i was a kid, even despite Robbie Benson starring it. I was also a huge "White Shadow" fan, that was just a great show.

Kelvin Sampson is going to IU? Strange indeed. They should have given Alford a shot.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you....as you might expect with this taking place I have been SWAMPED.
All kinds of names being tossed around, and no Coach K isn't one. ;)

I just thought it was a strange move for both IU and Sampson. He's got an incredible recruiting class coming in, so why leave? And with the NCAA investigation going on, why would IU gamble on bringing him in? I just don't get it really. I hope i didn't distract you from getting the scoop on that one. ;) Whose names are they throwing around?

Kelvin isn't well liked by many of the big OU boosters and more and more fans lost faith in him each day. Kelvin is a good coach, but he is a person that creates polar opinions. Those who love him would run through walls for him, and those who don't like him...would push the wall on top of him.
I figured he was winding down his final days at OU, but I figured it would be next year after he cleared up the NCAA stuff.
I honestly don't know why Indiana took the chance, to me they KNOW he is a guy that will get them to tourney every year...probably feel their program just needs some stability, and while he isn't a superstar...he's just a notch under it IMO.
As far as OU names, Turgeon at Wichita State, Romar at Washington, Crean at Marquette are some of the most prominent ones. It sounds like OU is REALLY ready to throw the money around...they want to keep that class pretty badly.

If i had to cover the team and go to press conferences, i'd want them to go after Pete Gillen. He's a great coach who was held back by Virginia's academic requirements and the ACC competition. Plus he's a really nice guy and he's frickin hilarious, he's like the Letterman of college b-ball. I shared a cab from the airport with him one time and he was really cool.

Anything has to be an improvement over Sampson...dry as toast.

Yeah, Gillen had me in stitches just chatting with him. I had no idea who he was, but he told he coached at Virginia and i recognized the name. I told him he had a rough job, and asked him about Duke and he said "Yeah, they didn't tell me they were in the conference when i took the job." He had some nice things to say about Coach K too. :D I think he's doing color commentary for INHD now, i'll bet he's good at it.

I knew you'd like that one. I don't see it at all, just saying it's being tossed around.

last year I'm at the Final 4 following my beloved Illinois side :D anyhow, we're at the hotel where many coaches were staying. I see Pete Gillen walking around wearing a Virginia sweatshirt.
This was like 2 weeks after he got the sack from UVa

This is NOT directly relevant to the previous discussion regarding the cleanliness (or lack thereof) of certain NCAA basketball programs......

That's bad, but not as bad as seeing assistant coaches wearing gear from the previous teams they coached at practice. I don't even remember where I saw that, but the guy next to me saw it and goes "Did Nike mix up orders and nobody noticed?"

Yes, by extremely naive message board posters, I've seen the posts, they were funny. Something tells me that doesn't equate to official interest though.

Ohhh...I think it's being tossed around in bigger circles than you think, but like I say it doesn't much matter other than UCLA I can't see Romar wanting to go anywhere.
