Basque Club Allegiances

I get the impression that supporting Athletic Bilbao is not simply a sporting statement, but a strong political statement as well. And I also get the impression that supporting the other Basque clubs isn't quite the political statement that supporting Athletic is. Am I right? Thanks.

I disagree.
it is not exactly a political statement, you could just be from Bilbao and like Athletic. or you could be all in favor of Athletic's Basque policy however not root for Athletic.
