Speaking hypothetically, if Carlos Ruiz was American would he get into the national team?

As of right now he would crack the starting 11

but with a healthy EJ he would come off the bench

midsection. Lose some weight and then see how much he improves.

ruiz is pretty fit its just his fat face and his hunched back that makes him look fat .

well he's good enough to score on mexico in 1min ,so i would say he is good enough .

he's definetly better at scoring than all those scrubs(TT ,ching, noonan) who are competing to be at top with Mcbride, and ruiz is Mr clucth at scoring(with less depth on his NT team) while EJ against good teams scores sporadically,

imagine if ruiz had reyna , beasley, donavan , and ralston servicing ruiz

wow it would pretty damn good.

According to this Guatefutbol/Rojomania article yes.

Without a doubt he would be a starter. Eddie Johnson conceded himself that Ruiz is the best forward he's played with and that he was learning a lot from him (this was when they were on the same team).

yes. definitely... unless his attitude became an issue. Then i guess he'd go the way of Mathis.

On talent alone I say yes, but he would need to change his outlook on the game and fight and claw through tackles rather than flopping. Fight through bad calls rather than whining. Be proud to be an American and what it stands for being a positive influence and professional. Not bitching whining and flopping. He basically would need to change his outlook to more of an american attitude rather than what he does now.

starting XI I would say. Maybe a rotation with him and EJ or McBride. We aren't exactly deep up front.

actually it wasn't in the first min, i think it was in the first 5 though, but hey fonseca is good enough to score like 4 against Guate, but yet again who isn't

it actually was 1 min for ruiz, but were not talking about fonseca are we. i do agree with you that guatemala's defense is weak, but there offense has not produce like this before ruiz.

it actually it was 1 min for ruiz.and why are you down playing ruiz were not talking about fonseca anyway. ruiz could proably score 8 against guate weak defense if he played on a different team . i do agree with you that guatemala's defense is weak, but there ruiz scoring ability would have him in arenas germany 2006 roster for the USA

I don't think he'd make the team. McBride and EJ are much more athletic. McBride plays at a level that Ruiz could never compete at, and EJ is a much better physical specimen. Twellmen's MLS goal scoring tallies are close to that of Ruiz and he's a far superior athlete. We also have Conor Casey who has had some success in the German Bundesliga. Ruiz might be able to be the 4th striker, but I think even that is a stretch.

Your resentful comments never seem to amaze me. Did you catch your daughter fv cking a mexican or something? McBride played at the same level as Ruiz, guess who's stats are better? Ruiz not being athletic? Yeah, you could have scored those two bycycle kick goals of the decade that he made couldn't you? You're just a loser.

a americans definition of athletes is a tall person with speed

ruiz has one of the strongest upper body in the MLS and craftiness with the ball the MLS has ever seen, timing ,,

he may have some lack of acceleration with ball but he plays that way cause of style of play force most attacker to play with there back against the goal, ie(sparissa FW vs LA/MLS style of defending)

i can't wait to see what Ruiz will do this season ej may show great talent but his career stats don't come close to what ruiz has accomplished in 4 years

yes! you are exactly right he does have alot of talent, i myself like him ecept for his attutude sometimes but he honestly does get screwed alot i think he should be a little more protected....definetly on the usa roster only a starter if johnson or mcbride arent playing but defently a substutie when there tird or not playing very well like mcbride starts to show his age which probably wont be for awhile

Ruiz would be in the starting XI. He's better than McBride, way better.

Hopefully EJ will be better than Ruiz in the future.
