Mike, if you want to go to Edinburgh, you should go. I went for two nights last fall and had a great time. Its alot cheaper than london, you can get rooms for less than 70 bucks a night (i even saw one on hotels.com that was 30). I stayed at the Scotsman which was 200 a night for one of the nicest hotels i've ever been to. I flew up there and took the train back, it wasn't cheap because i did it last minute, but if you plan ahead its alot cheaper, and the trains are really nice. The flight is about an hour and the train is about 5 hours. You should check it out, as long as you're not planning to crash with Rick and his lady you probably won't be an imposition.

Rick said that it was cool to travel with him, and that his gf will be at school during the day, so he and I can hang out. I'm definitely going to check out some cheap hotel rooms.

If it works out, you should go. Edinburgh is my favorite town in the UK. Lots of history, but still very modern and happening. And the girls there are alot prettier than the girls in London.
