Who played the better Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I've neither seen the movie nor the TV show, so I wouldn't know the answer to this question.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp But to those of you who have seen them, which of these two actresses played the better Buffy the Vampire Slayer... and why?

SMG, quite simply because she has played her over a period of years as opposed to a few months for Swanson.

A "Buffy" joke with SMG makes sense, while the same with Swanson would draw a "huh?"

But Swanson's 100x hotter (first time I ever saw SMG, I was like "WTF's that nose???" and I still find it ugly.

I think Kristy's comedic timing was a little better, but SMG has been given a lot more time to develop the character.

Did you know that Charisma Carpenter originally read for "Buffy" and SMG originally read for "Cordelia".

I vote best vampire slayer....Eliza Dushku..."Faith" and I hope that spinoff thing works out.

I liked Swanson better.

Comparing the first season to the movie, I think Swanson did have the better timing and totally played out the valley girl come vampire killer much better than SMG would have.

You can't really compare other BTVS seasons to the movie, just because Buffy grows up and becomes much, much darker and really bears no resemblance to the orginal movie character.

cant believe this is even close - sure, the role of the series is far more impressive than the role of the movie - its not really a slight to kristy swanson to hand this one to SMG without a second thought - buffy kicks ass for a reason...

Have to go with Sarah Michelle Gellar. The movie didn't really do it for me but I thought the t.v. show was great. Witty, sometimes suspenseful but never took itself too seriously, even during the couple of "darker" seasons.
