It could be Jimmy effing Carter for all I care, meeting a President is a hell of an honor IMO. Meeting with a sitting one makes it all the more sweet. It also helps that I'm a registered Republican and supported Bush in the last two elections.
I wonder what wonderful conversation can be mustered up between you two if the opportunity arises. Surely you'll congratulate him on the fine handling of our economy, surely you'll tap him on the back for a job well done in Iraq, and you'll positively sing his praises for his reaction to Katrina. Oh I can picture it now, butterflies and stars and stripes, what a glorious time you'll have and what an honour indeed.

Umm our economy is pretty damn good right now, but of course you are drinking the media kool aid there. The other two, fine he messed up. I never mentioned what I thought of him on the issues, only that it is an honor to meet a President, but of course you have to completely spin my harmless statement just to express your hatred of Bush. Fine, I can live with that.

media kool? our economy is fine? wow, think again what the top news was yesterday again, other than that I can't go into it any further.
Also, how is it an honour to meet the president knowing he fcuked up so often, and it's not only on those occasions I've mentioned. The list goes on and on.

If you are talking about the oil and gas prices, what the hell does that have to do with our economy? The price of oil is part of the global market economy and domestic gas prices have to do with simple supply and demand. Will this adversely affect our economy at all? Yeah probably. But I fail to see how Bush or his policies have any impact on that whatsoever, outside of alternative fuel research.
Clinton screwed up a lot of things (although he was never faced with a true domestic disaster), but I would still like to meet him. I would be very excited to meet him in fact. It's just part of the allure and prestige of the office rather than the politics of the man himself.

The problem with politics discussion is htat you can never convince someone of another point of view. When someone gets a point of view there is no way to get them off of it. Whether they are truly right or wrong.

Wanting to meet Clinton would make more sense, he turned a defecit into a surplus not the other way around, and he's a minge-hound, so I could definitely see myselk making good convo.
Also, I hope you're not saying we should take it easy with Bush because he was faced with domestic disasters.

well....that's particularly true in this country. You take all the midwesterners who have very little knowledge of politics and pretty much buy into Bush's policies, as opposed to those who are more informed and have more insight on the president's policies and know things aren't black and white. A sensible person might tell you the the former is wrong, but yet they are unwilling to recognize it.

I'm not, I just pointed out Clinton never was. Doesn't diminish what he accomplished.
But in Bush's case, those things have shaped the direction of his Presidency. Whether for better or (as I'm sure is your opinion and mine to a large extent) worse, that is an absolutely undeniable fact.

Or perhaps you give them far too little credit because they don't choose to see things your way?
Nah, that couldn't be it.

I'm not saying all midwesterners are characterized as that, but let's face reality here, most of them are. This country is cut up vertically and horizontally no matter which way you want to look at it.

Let's just hope he never has to go face to face (?) with Oprah's minge. That limey will pop a cap in his ass.

I'm pretty sure Bill could get into Oprah's minge, he'd be out of his mind to want to, but the guy is a latter-day Don Juan.

Guys, there is a Politics thread in here, somewhere. Please take it there. Leave this thread happy, aka the opposite of political discussion.

I'm happy because South Park finally decided to satirize Oprah's minge. It was about damn time.

It's that "Fat Syndication paycheck" that has the creators of South Park really pulling out the gems. They no longer have to worry about making episodes, less they fear getting canceled.
