"This is your chance to honour a true Arsenal legend."
Never a truer word said. I've sent in my tribute already.

Although the thread may not be totally appropriate, I thought this would be better than starting a whole new topic...although this legend deserves at least that.
Now excuse me for being 'stupid' or 'unimformed' but the fact is that while Rocky was at his prime, I was too young to know all about him. I have numerous videos and DVD's on him and he strikes me as one of my favourite EVER Arsenal players...his technical skills and trickery is just amazing. Now what I want to know is, why did Rocky leave Arsenal for Leeds for 2m it is? Did we sel him for the money or what because i could never see the club not wanting a player like him.
Thanks, and if you guys haven't enjoyed this video already, here it is:

Rocky got a few injuries during the 90-91 season, when we won the league, and he missed out on 2/3 of that season. I dont think he ever really found his form again after that and George Graham sold him on to ......City or Leeds, cant remember which one he went to first.

I know it's a shade late, but speaking of Rocky, it was good to see this come out of the Arsenal:
Arsenal name youth facility after Rocastle (http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=news&article=407721&cpid=703&title=Arsenal+name+youth+facility+after+David+Rocastle)
Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that its indoor sports facility at Hale End in Walthamstow, London, is to be named in the memory of former midfielder David Rocastle who lost his battle to cancer in 2001 at the age of just 33.
The David Rocastle Indoor Centre will oversee the development of the Academy's Youth Development programme, where junior levels from under nines to under 16s will be able to use the facility throughout the year. Its official opening by Club representatives including manager Arsène Wenger and David's family and friends will take place this afternoon, Thursday 3rd August.
'Rocky' himself came through the youth ranks at Arsenal, alongside players including Michael Thomas and Martin Keown. A number of current youth players will participate in a demonstration match in front of guests today after the opening ceremony.
The announcement comes at the end of a successful year for the David Rocastle Trust as Arsenal's Charity of the Season for 2005/06. Fundraising activities during Arsenal's final season at Highbury raised over £150,000 for the organisation established in Rocky's memory.
Liam Brady, head of Youth Development said of the opening: "David was a product of the youth academy and went on to win trophies for the Club and represent his country. He was a courageous player and a great all round person and we want to have a lasting memorial in his honour."
Arsène Wenger said: "David is fondly remembered by everyone at Arsenal as a true professional, and it is nice to have something with us as a daily reminder of what he did for the Club. I'm sure his memory and achievements will be an inspiration to our young players starting their careers just as Rocky did in the Arsenal Academy."

It just made me feel very, very old. The very idea that someone, anyone, would not know a Beatles song is just so wrong. My 9 year-old daughter is coming along very nicely in being able to identify who the lead singer is on most of their songs.
As for Rocky, I first learned of him in the "Fever Pitch" movie (the real one), and have gradually learned over the years what an important name he is in the club's history. Good to see he's being recognized. I believe there's a link on Arsenal.com where you can contribute to the charity fund established in his name.

It was pretty amazing at the final match at Highbury - during the final celebrations everyone starts singing the Rocky Rocastle song and it sounded and was just amazing.
