I know that people should not put a lot of stock in the FIFA Rankings system, but I would like to get a better idea as to how it works. Specifically:
1) Are a country's total points reset to zero after each world cup and the ranking they are placed in depends on how the team performed in the world cup? Or do countries always keep their points (ie, points are always accumulated and never reset)?
2) Are countries given points (1 for tie, 3 for win) for any international games they play regardless of whether the game is a friendly or an international competition?
