As many of you should know by now, part of MetroNation's "Vision" is community/charity outreach. In fact, it played a major role for us in our inaugural season: raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, contributing to the USSF Passback campaign, and assisting Hurricane Katrina victims relocated to the north Jersey area.
Well, we are getting an early start this year. It is not feasible to post the entire contents here. However, in brief, we are conducting a marathon adult men's 7v7 tournament to raise money for a local soccer coach and player, Mr. Phil Diffley, who is suffering from ALS or "Lou Gehrig's Disease." We hope to expand to youth boys and girls, women's, and coed teams in the coming years, but this first one is trial-and-error for us. We did not want to overwhelm ourselves out of the gates. For more information, on this horrible and debilitating condition, check out www.alsa.org.
To learn more about this historic event, which we hope to make an annual one, visit www.phildiffleyfamilytrust.com Net proceeds from this event will support Phil's wife and 5 children, as Phil can no longer support his family on his own. Please keep Phil and his family in your thoughts or prayers.
Please help spread the word. Perhaps you would even want to register a team of your own?
