If Mexico lacked anything, it was a forward up top who could absorb pressure and capitalize on what the midfield was providing. I know Borguetti could have helped, but I'm sure Mexico needs someone younger to step up to the plate in this regard. I would have liked to see Patino from America up top. (I'm assuming he's Mexican.)

Patiņo is Mexican but his level has dropped since winning the championship with America. Also he not a finisher. Denigris would be a better pick but his level has also gone down.

Bravo can do more than just finishing.

Hey, Asprilla, don't lie just to make your own point. These friendlys are played to try out the new generation of players which was what all National teams in the TFC vs Argentina games did.

:) :) i'm not the one who lied, ese.

someone on here said the US was only missing 2 players and Mexico had an entirely experimental roster.

let's face it, both El tri and los gringos had experimental rosters and both looked like caca. actually, Mexico looked alot better than the US team. the us looked horrible at times. i have no problem admitting this.

but just don't try and tell me it that almost the full US roster was there....that's a lie.

not trying to justify anything, just correcting two misinformed posts about who was and was not missing for the USA.

Personally, I'm like Tommy Smyth when it comes to friendlies....I don't think they mean jack all.

I recall the Yanks reasoning that a full roster is that which is present in the field on game day. That said, I really doubt Cobi Jones, Diego Serna, Earnie Stewart and Agoos will be on hand for Germany 06.

Yeah, especially Diego Serna. Do any of you guys actually watch US soccer? First it JMM failing. Then Thorton was out of position. And now Serna has magically become an American.

I didn't saw the USA-Argentina game, but on "La Ultima Palabra"(an argentinean soccer discussion program) on FoxSports they talked about both games. They coincided that Mexico was a much difficult rival to la "albiceleste". They even blamed their team for not outscoring the USMNT.

I dont watch US (MLS) religously. On occasion when the MFL or other Euro leagues are not on TV. If the US national team plays a good national team like Germany, holland, Argentina, ...i'll watch it. If they play teams like Canada, El Salvador... i dont even bother watching it.

Thorton was out of position. I know it looked like a pretty goal... but part of that is because Thorton was out of position. The ball went in the net like a dying Quayle. He looped it over. Thorton didnt expect it and he was out of postion.

I watch a game now and then. Anyways im talking about the Colombian Defender that plays/played with the USMNT and used to work in the WTC. I believe he is having problems resigning a contract with the MLS..

my short, but simple summary

mexico vs argentina: argentinians took the ball away from mexico how many times? after the 15th or so steal mexico should have adopted another strategy, instead of the defender always taking it from the start.

usa vs argentina:this can be summarised by 1 thing
u.s shots on goal in first half = 1 (came late in the first half)
second half = 2?

they were dancing around with the u.s til the goal came, and after the goal they settled for that (probably the heat of miami, not worth the effort) they could have scored more if they had played like they played in the starting minutes but the goal was enough.

the argentinians are too good for both.

Nothing much more to say than it was an out-of-season friendly. It doesn't mean much of anything. I enjoyed watching it.

The rest is nonsense.
