I realize that this is cross-posted in a couple of threads at this point but it's important enough to have it's own thread.
In order to preserve Ed's Baby Ass flag for Germany, we need to get a replacement 20' x 30' for the games in Cary, Nashville, Cleveland, and Hartford.
I've organized a fundraiser to buy Sam's Army another "Baby Ass" flag. Full details and a link to make a $5 (or more) donation via PayPal can be found over at my blog:

Thank you for your support of Sam's Army and the US National Team!

In all honesty, you will hit this within a day or two. Maybe there is another avenue in which donated money can go after you reach the goal. another flag/banner or whatever. I have faith in the army.

Hopefully we'll get to that point. If we do, I'll start a thread here discussing what we should do with the money. I guarantee any excess funds will be donated back into Sam's Army.

I say the excess goes to a fund to recreate the "50 State Flag" on a much grander scale, ala the BAF's.

Grander scale? Isn't it already something like 30x25 or bigger?

Dude, how big do you want to go!
:eek:
v.1 of the 50 is 30' tall and 25' wide.
If you go from 3x5's to 4x6's, that ups the size to 40' tall and 30' wide.
Problem is you can't get 4x6's in poly. Not easily at least.
Going Nylon 4x6's does 3 things:
1. Triples longevity and durability;
2. Quadruples the weight when dry, Octuples the weight when wet;
3. Dodecahedronizes the cost.
It *IS* possible to get medieval and do something wacky
like a 50-state made out of 6x10's for a total overall footprint
60' high and 50' wide, exactly twice the size of v.1
But "list price" on materials alone for that puppy would run
in the neighborhood of $6000. Before labor (assembly).
Paging Drew Carey.... white courtesy telephone please.
I'm scheming of creating a more durable Nylon v.2 of the 50
for the 2010 cycle, with some type of fastening mechanism that
allows it to be broken apart and easily reassembled for cleaning
and shipment. But i've never thought of going larger than 3x5's.
I've also talked with :::::::::: about creating a "matching" set
of 50 Native American Tribal flags, to which I would also create
third set of 50 US Historical Flags; I'm up to around 30 in my
collection at this point, so I'm over halfway there on the latter.
My dream is to someday get both of the 30x60's, the Rattler,
and 3 of the 50's together in the same (large) stadium. That
assemblage would be overkill for a Columbus, Frisco, HDC, etc.
