I know it has been mentioned in other threads but I think this is important enough info for those still waiting to buy tickets that it should have its own thread.
For those of you alerady booked on Delta, this could be a good thread for you to vent/cry/celebrate.
If you buy Delta you may not get to Germany...it's as simple as that.

Yes, I bought Delta.
But let me re-phrase what you said: If you buy Delta you may not get to Germany on Delta, but rather by spending some ungodly sum of money to book new flights
I keep hearing that this is just normal negotiating between Delta and the union - that Delta will keep flying in the end. They're adding new routes left and right (esp. to Europe, including Düsseldorf).

Adding new routes left and right may be part of the problem.

Northwest may also have problems now through the summer. In fact, most US airlines are in the midst of some type of labor problems. It is pretty hard to pick which one won't have a strike looming in three months.

They are repositioning themselves gradually as more of an international carrier, so it may also be a solution

I am on Delta. I just hope to know whether they are flying in time to find an alternate if I need to.
It is frustrating that with USSF tix, place tix, and internet hotel reservations, nothing about my trip is reliable enough that I am not worried about it.

Travel insurance may be an option for you but be aware that most policies have some pretty small print that can leave you at the terminal even if you buy their policy.
Here is a link that might help...

You guys absolutely nuts.....especially as a Delta employee, we are not going anywhere...Pilots and mgmt are in mediation right now and can continue to negotiate the side until an agreement is reached. Seriously folks...when in the past 5 years since 9/11 has a major airline stopped flying!?!? Tell me!
THE SKY IS NOT FALLING!
Stop with the naivity!!!
It's been 25 years since Eastern stopped..WAKE UP!!!
We;ve inaugurated 11 new citys adn 18 new city paire from JFK and ATL to Europe and Latin America. We're converting 16 aircraft to international flying this summer and I have to listen to this paranoid naivity!
Mods, can we get this thread deleted so that we don't waste are time on non-sensical drivel!

I was being half rhetorical...guess I can't stand ignant people! ;)
Sabena and Swissair.
Umm No....Sabena is/was not a major airline by any standards. Further they did not liquidate, they re-branded under SN Brussels Airlines (http://www.flysn.com).
Swissair, while major by European standards and exclusivity may have been considered major due to high visibility routes, was never anywhere near as big an airline by terms of Revenue, RPM's or fleet size then even the bottom ranked US Domestic Carriers. With a fleet size close to the mid-60's rather then 500-600, after bankruptcy they changed their image to purely Swiss and have since ultimately been bought out and merged into the Lufthansa brand.

Yeh, I'm flyin Swiss Air in two weeks. Seriously though - who gets in at 1:45am and also has outbound flights at 4:45am?
My parents are monitoring Delta as well, they are coming to Spain in May and are worried their trip would be canceled. I'll give them Mike's reassurance.

Next thread is going to be about the possibility of a falling piano ending YOUR World cup dream. You should be afraid, very afraid.

If FC Tallavana starts that one, he'll have hit the trifecta of panic - Don't fly Delta, bird flu (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=319681) and falling pianos.
