Given the position that Messi went, I think its a pretty good take at this point.

Aguero was my sleeper for lter rounds. Great pick.
And re. Marcelinho. He was the best player in Germany last year, so him being not as good as his on standardbare this year isn't saying much. He's better than a number of player taken before him in this draft and I'm delighted to have him again. He seems to be severely underrated in these drafts, he should never be taken higher than the 5th rd, yet, he slips thru the net 2yrs running. Perfect for me, mind.

But Barcelona and Independiente are miles apart in terms of competition for places, opposition, etc. I also thought Messi went early as well.

I'll always consider Marcelinho a fantastic pick. Even when he's not "the best player in Germany", he's instrumental to Hertha's success, and always does something fantastic.

His record is beyond repute.
Beyond repute? Totti?

Nice, be honest, your strategy was affected by the fact that Chelsea lost to Barca. I mean of all people, I wouldn't expect your team to be so attacking-minded.

Not really. It was a decision made wihtin the team. Besides, given that we got Vicente, Sheva and Messi in the first three picks, it would have been foolish to play them with a defensive approach. Vicente doesn't defend.

Anyone else suprised to see Chimbonda go so soon? He's been impressive at times, but he is prone to make mistakes. There are definelty better options still available.

There is one in particular.
I know exactly who you are thinking of you bastard... lol, me and jayson had you pegged early. However, Brown has been United's best defender all season and has been pretty much phenomenal in all but a handful of games. Of course, its easier to be phenomenal when you play as aggressive as he does. Of course he's got weaknesses which I won't get into here. However, form wise, and consistency wise, Brown is one of the top 5 cbs in England this season. When you add that he's played solidly at RB as well, that only makes him a better pick at this stage.

Chelsea alone have 3 CBs who are better than Brown, and unless you think he's better thank King or Rio, the above is incorrect. I certainly wouldn't take him over Toure either.

I really get the feeling to many people in this draft are hung up on individual selections rather than the cumulative cause and effect a 'better player' who is a worse fit for a scheme would cause.
For what I want, Chimbonda is the best pick.

Well, we'll see what I want when the time to write things up comes and all this 'discussion' is out of the way, wont we? ;)
