I don't understand Spanish much at all. I did grow up north of that border, in San Diego. So, my question, there seems to be lots of "affiliated teams", like Cruz Azul Oaxaca--->Cruz Azul, and now Dorados de Tijuana. I could swear there's another Dorados, maybe up in la primera. What happens with promotion, then? Are these "affiliate" teams just not eligible? It'd seem strange to see CA Oaxaca promoted, then face Azul in an actual match.

Nacional plays inside of Hank's circo desnutrido lleno de cocaina.
Los Tucanes provide the background entertainment.
Benjamin watches from his private palco.
He's not dead.
Generation X.
And no, he's not behind bars either.
The Cartel lives.

Since like mid-december.
so nice to have such a dedicated tijuana fan.
I don't think there's much danger dorados tijuana (http://www.doradostijuana.com/) will be promoted.
The teams in first scavenge all the best talent from 1a affiliates.

Well, TJ has never, that I recall, had any good teams, so I'm not surprised that Dorados are no different. My question is, though, if TJ were to win the promotion playoff (in theory), would they even be allowed to be promoted to la primera, seeing as their parent team (D's de Sinaloa, apparently), are in la primera?

TJ has had some pretty good teams back in the day. Inter the Tijuana was superlider of the old second division back in the early 90's, I think season 90-91, and played the promotional final against Leon. I remember that team being very damn good... I remember that superlider season they played a friendly against Bayern Munich with Rudy Voeller tied 3-3 and beat them in PKs.
Inter started to decline slowly until they were relegated from primera a to segunda.
Then came chivas tijuana which played the invierno final of '98 against yucatan but we lost. Chivas tijuana came so close of wining that promotora guadalajara (the then owner of chivas) changed the name to Nacional Tijuana in order to avoid naming problems if the team got promoted.
I have supported all of the TJ teams, not so much chivas tijuana or dorados because I feel they are just using the team as farm team to test out young players. I feel that the team doesnt have its own identity because we are the second division version of some primera team... but thats just IMO.

Maybe I need to rephrase my question. Can Dorados TJ be promoted? Or because they are a developmental team to Dorados de Sinaloa, they legally must remain Prim.-A?

They can be promoted, they just need to change their name if they do.

OK, thanks. Kind of wouldn't have guessed so, but I guess the developmental relationship just automatically gets dissolved if TJ are promoted.

Anybody have any information on when Dorados de Tijuana play their games? Where is the stadium located in Tijuana? I'd like to check out a game there.
I see Everaldo Bejines is on their team. He's always been a pretty good forward.

I would think Estadio Nacional, but I could be wrong. I know Nacional played there, as did Trottamundos. I'd be curious, too. I've not been south of the border since 1984 or so, even thouh my parents live in Del Mar, north of SD.

They dont play in that stadium anymore. That stadium was remodeled only for baseball now... the parking lot is better, better seats, better bathrooms; they even have a jumbo tron installed.
Dorados plays in estadio CREA, it used to be a public sports facility but they turned the futbol pitch into a mini stadium for like 8K. The place is like 5 minutes from the san ysidro border crossing.

I would love to see a Primera team in Tijuana.
I would make the trip across the border everytime Necaxa came into town.

Thanks for the info, too bad the club's website doesn't give much information on the stadium and it's location but I'll try and find more info elsewhere. Looks like April 2 match vs Leon might be one worth watching.
