The enigmatic Brian Clough regarded by some as the greatest English football manager that ever lived. Known for his abrasive and outright views, 'Cloughie' as he was known by the fans enjoyed great success with Derby County and Nottingham Forest where he won two European Cups with the latter.

As well as his unique mannerisms and almost stern patriarchal view on the world - he was known by his old green sweater which he wore on the touchlines.

'Old Big Ead' left the managers hot-seat in 1993, at a time when the Bosman ruling, millionaire footballers and global interest was approaching around the corner. He was the last bastion of the managerial 'old school' and his like will never be seen again.

That's easy enough to do with the proper shutter speed. It doesn't say as much about his speed as it does about the photographer. Still a cool photo though.

Yea I know, but as far as it making a statement about the player and kind of defining his myth a little... I like it a lot.

I feel much of Ronaldo is myth, and this is one of those pictures that makes the kid in you believe a little bit of it again.

This isn't necessarily classic, but I really think this is the most important moment for me from Liverpool's 5th European Cup run. We had just beaten Leverkusen to get to the quarters [which wasn't anything out of the ordinary in itself], now we were to face Juventus.

I don't think there were many fans that expected us to get past Juventus, let alone win the Cup. So when Garcia lets it ride from so far out and catches Buffon just a foot too far off his line... you start to believe anything is possible. ;)

These are two of my favorite Real Madrid photos:

That's Amancio-that he slides right in front of the photographer is fantastic.

I love this photo of Raul and Hierro. It was after Raul scored in the 1996-97 season. You can be accused of reading too much into it because of hindsight, but I don't think so. There was something special about Raul very early, and in this photo I think the Madridista would agree:la anticipacion y la alegria de una nueva epoca.

Why would we kill you for showing Cruyff like that. It's what made him as great as he was.

But my absolute favorite of cruyff I can't find. After he scored a goal at the 1974 WC, He stood still, raised one arm and turned around so that his legs were crossed. I can't really describe it but I just know all the Dutch here know what pose I mean.

I like this as they are in many ways mirror images of themselves as players:

I think this is classic Romario. Elbows out and back, fast close touches, ready to burst at any moment. I'm trying to think of the quote he had... "I was sent by God to score goals", :D
