I've never seen the cartoon, but I don't like the comic strip at all. Too preachy to the choir-y.

This is a case where my mental images of the characters simply don't match what the show's producers settled on. Also, I think that what he's doing is more effective in small doses.

I vote for The Boondock Saints.

Don't forget that old song, "Down in the Boondocks".

The comic strip has its moments, though. I can't find it online anymore, but the arc where Grand Dad went to see Brokeback Mountain was really good.
Nothing's been as good as B.D's counseling sessions in Doonesbury, but that Boondocks arc was pretty high quality.

The cartoon started out hideously, then got amazingly good. The MLK episode was just awesome.

I've only been watching about a month. I might have voted differently if I'd seen it from the beginning.

I'll go out on a limb here and say "Neither." It's not a comic strip in the traditional definition.

I love the show! The style is really nice with heavy Anime influences, and the dialogue is usually hilarious. Huey's samurai/ninja persona has created some really great animation. The Bob Ross teaches Riley how to tag was a great episode along with the Xmas episode where Riley chased the Mall Santa around. The music on the intro/outro/inbetween is great.

I love when ItN makes himself look like an idiot!
I love it even more when I point that out and he neg reps me for it!

"look like" an idiot?
anyhow I also agree that Boondocks is way too preach-to-the-choir. I don't need to be reminded of my beliefs, as they may change with new information. this is also why I will never have a tattoo.

Damn it, I meant to choose the comic strip, but for some reason I chose the cartoon. So I screwed up the poll :(
Anyway, the comic strip is great. Too preachy? Yeah right.

Something is wrong. I know I picked the comic strip, but I'm showing up as the cartoon.

It has been, in the past, my favorite comic strip--which is saying something soming from me (bit of comics connoisseur). But a few years ago he started work on the TV show, which left him no time to really devote to the comic strip--hired an artist, etc. It's definitely slipped since then.
