Hear is my order, and up to criticism as always on Big Soccer. Just top 5 though.

5. tie between Marcelino of Hertha Berlin and Brazil, Thierry Henry of Arsenal and France, and Roberto Carlos of Real Madrid and Brazil
4. Andrea Pirlo, AC Milan and Italy
3. Ronaldino, Barcelona and Brazil
2 David Beckham, Real Madrid and England
1. Junihno P, Lyon and Brazil

Beckham has been horrible since joining Real Madrid. His first season was extremely bad. When he stepped on to take a freekick, I knew that he would get nowhere near the target. That offseason, when he played in Euro 2004 and stepped on to take the penalty against Portugal, I knew that he would miss and way off the target. I heard in interviews he blamed it on the X'mas break. Some sources said that he had a new pair of shoes, butr he would not blame it on the compnay that paid him millions of dollars. The lasttwo seasons, he improved. He scored liked 5 freekicks in the last two seasons.

I've noticed that there are a lot of players that hit consistanty from one spot or something. For example, Ronaldinho, a great player and when the ball is at the right position (just left from the goal, from the players standpoint and a few yards from the box) he hits it damn near everytime. Henry does to. But most of these players hit about what, 99% of their free kicks from there.

Juninho, as much as I dislike him after that lunge that got him a yellow in Lyon's recent champions league match, can hit it from anywhere. Which makes him the best. Pirlo, to me, is second.

Pierre can probably still get mentioned. Also Ugur Yildirim the champion free kick taker.

1. Junihno P, Lyon and Brazilseriously? roberto carlos? i think hes terrible. he takes like 60% of real madrids free kicks around the box and he scored twice in a season. no idea why you have him ahead of someone like Del Piero. and ronaldinho third? come on. got no problem with the first two though.

First one would definitely by Juninho Pernambucano from Lyon; he ALWAYS puts it in.

Anyone see the one that Huntelaar scored for Ajax last week?

A real beauty.

Beckham? Underneath which rock have you been living..? The guy scores about 1 out of every 50 freekicks these days

my vote goes to:

1. Ronaldinho..because I think he has a slightly higher succesratio than Juninho..if anyone can prove me wrong, please do.
2. Juninho..the curve he puts on the ball is fenomenal

in no particular order other free kick specialist

Henry
Solano
Emre
Pirlo

he hits near target about 1 every 50. He probably scores much less than 50.

No, he only takes the ones 30 yards out. His on target rate is very high. However, all the keepers are ready for his shots and prepare for them. So he does not score. If it is another shooter, the keeper will think the distance is too far for the shooter and the shooter still has the chance to surprise the keeper. Not many player can hit the ball with power from that distance. So Roberto Carlos probably is still the best freekick artist from the long distance.

Thank you for seeing why I put him in the top five. Forgot about Del Pirro,s o that's on me, even though I think Marcelino of Hertha Berlin is one of the world's most underrated players.

But you are kidding me if you think anybody is better than Beckham besides Juninho P and possibly Ronaldinho. The spin that Beckham puts on that ball is just unfathoable sometimes.

And Rivaldo, when is the last time he has played at a high level. I am taking about right here, right now, in terms of how would goalkeepers fear the most if a foul was drawn 30 feet outside the box.

Yeah your right, but your leaving out the part that he does it MAYBE once every 20 or so tries. Hes freekicks have been terribly off target this season for Real, I probalby wouldn't even put him in the top five right now.

I'd go with
1. Ronaldinho-I think his ratio to on target/goals is the highest, basically the most consistent
2. Juninho-always a threat no matter where the ball is placed
3. Henry-nice touch, not a lot of curve but good power and placement
4. Pirlo-can hit beauties but less consistent

At MANU, yes, but he has lost it at Real Madrid. I am not kidding that he rarely gets the ball anywhere near the goal. He is better this season than before, but I would not let him to take the freekicks if I am the coach. He probably took 3 to 4 freekicks at his MANU comfortable zone per game. I think he scored 1 this season out at least 100 freekicks.

No mention of Mihajlovic yet.... at his age he is probably still the best.

Right you are Miha has the highest conversion rate on FKs in the game, nobody seemed to mention that bergkamp was also quite good in his day

Yup, Miha is good. I would have pick Jay Jay Okocha in the discussion, but because of injuries and poor dorm, that isn't the case anymore. And your right Excape Goat, Beckham hasn't been as good with the free kicks with Madrid, though he has been a little better this season. Strange that the rest of his game have actually grown even more at Madrid.

soz to labour the point, but the fact hes not at the top level has nothing to do with his free-kick taking, that is a part of the game which is not going to deteriorate as long as you practice, even though the rest of your game might fall to pieces a bit (cc mihajlovic do we think?)

but yep, mihajlovic and okocha are good calls, and wesley sneijder anyone? van bommel can strike it well too
