Since yesterday, we have been bombarded by e-mails from within and outside of MetroNation asking what our thoughts are from the "bullish takeover" to the nutritional value of taurine and glucuronolactone. While we would love to respond to each one personally, it is just overwhelming. Consequently, we have prepared an initial statement (http://www.metronation.net/extras/InitialReaction.pdf) that reflects our current perspective, based on the facts available to us at this time, but no consult on the ingredients of Red Bull (we have no clue). If you have trouble accessing this document, please contact us at moreinfo@metroantion.net (mailto:moreinfo@metroantion.net) and we will send the PDF file directly to your e-mail address.

As we gather more facts and rely less on speculation, we will update you. Thank you for your support and understanding.

YIRB,
MetroNation

While I'm guessing the YIRB salutation suggests your position, would it be too much to ask you to post the position statement in this thread?

It still means "Yours In Red & Black"!
OTOH, how prescient!

Of course . . . I just thought the MN letterhead made it a little more official.

Dear MetroStars Faithful,

The recent transfer of ownership of the MetroStars from Anschutz Entertainment Group to Red Bull, has obviously been received by the Tri-State soccer community with mixed emotions. MetroNation is no exception. In fact, some within and outside of our group are especially concerned about us, given that we only recently celebrated our first birthday and have been strongly aligned with the MetroStars brand to date.

We appreciate all the correspondence we have being receiving from around the world. The overwhelming frequency is testimony to how proud and passionate the Tri-State area, and those with ties to this area but live abroad, are about the MetroStars. We certainly share your pride and passion for the MetroStars. Regardless of ownership or colors, our principal motivation is to support the local team, which compels us to explore collaborative opportunities with the New York Red Bulls. Collaboration does not necessarily imply “blind” approval or acceptance of Red Bull’s products, strategies, or tactics, but acknowledgement that we rely on each other to advance the image of professional soccer in this area.

Many of you have sought our opinion on topics ranging from the Red Bull “hostile takeover,” to the team’s new logo, to the detrimental health attributes of the Red Bull beverage. I feel it is best to work with facts and not feed into excessive speculation. Unfortunately, there are currently more variables than facts, which require us to proceed with prudent decision-making.

In the true spirit of our Mission and Vision Statements, published on our web site, MetroNation exists to support the team on the field. This year, it will be Red Bull New York. While individual Nationals have varying viewpoints, we should unite and still show our support for the players. Otherwise, how can we call ourselves a “fan” club? Barring more sweeping changes in the roster, the current players we will see wearing the Red Bull colors and logo are the same players that have been busting their butts in the preseason as [former] MetroStars. They do not deserve to be scapegoats for something beyond their control, and if we are really their most proud and passionate fans, we should not feed into this mindset.

The New York Red Bulls organization is looking forward to meeting with MetroNation in the near future. This is a positive step and sign! Red Bull does have a proven track record for success in other similar sports entertainment ventures. If we give them an opportunity to prove themselves to us, the New York Red Bulls might help make up for the previous 10 seasons. Please consider Ives Galarcep’s viewpoints on ESPNsoccernet (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=361287&root=mls&cc=5901), which complement ours.

As we work to tip the balance in favor of facts, we will update you periodically. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Sincerely Yours in Red and Black (and now, Blue)

& Silver? http://www.redbullusa.com/

The former MetroStars also had gold, and white as SECONDARY colors. It sounds like red and blue will be the primary color scheme for Red Bull NY, while silver/gray will be their secondary accent color. Hopefully, "YIRB" will suffice going forward. Although, having detail-oriented historians involved may complicate matters, no? :p
