PETER CECH, goalkeeper Chelsea said for czech press Pravo that Czech can beat Brazil in the world cup.

He played with his team Chelsea against Barcelona. In this context Peter Cech said some comments on Ronaldino. Ronaldino is excellent player. He showed some elegant pieces in the game, however it did not bring always goals. Said Peter Cech. He said that he was not interested about tricks of brazilian "soccer magician". He is only interested if he score goal or not.

Peter Cech is the best goalkeeper in the world nominated by IFFHS.

Ronaldino is a real handful to stop he can do a lot of things to help his team win and not just score goals. He is a real player fun to watch

why does Czech Fed care if GERMAN TV carries game or not? Euros, as in lots! No different than US TV networks paying college athletic departments to shift game days/times around, a German TV network's paying the Czech and Tico federations to move their game. A lot of Czechs in the Czech Republic, Germany, and elsewhere in Europe can watch German TV, but the German network's also capitalizing on World Cup interest. It makes perfect sense for all involved.

Well, I guess Cech must now be "interested," since Ronaldinho scored against Chelsea, and Barcelona knocked them out of the Champion's League.

Is it me or does the Czech Rep. sound as confident as Porturagal did in 2002?

Ohk4, Have they been showing a lot of friendlies on German TV?

they try to show as many friendlies as possible:)

when was game Italy-Germany on ARD, another channel Eurosport showed France-Slovakia in the same time. I think they showed Russia-Brazila as well. But I guess that mostly Germans were wataching Italy-Germany. Me too. Of course I would like to see game Czech-Costa Rica. Costa Rica is in our group and as ohk4 right said many czech players are famous in Germany since they play in BL or another team playing in Champions League.

For some reason Eurosport seems to show every France game. Not quite sure why.

For the qualifiers, the German state TV would normally show the England games so long as they did not conflict with a Germany game (on a Saturday, dor instance, England will normally play in the the afternoon, while Germany seems to favor night games). Scotland got a lot of airtime when Vogts was the coach, but not after.

As for friendlies, I can't remember seeing German TV show any other than those that Germany is playing in. Do we know what station wants to show the Czech game? ARD or ZDF I'm guessing. I suppose with winter sports ending there is something of a hole in their sports promgramming.

I think ZDF or ARD shows mostly games when Germany plays like next game USA-Germany will be on ZDF. But I think friendly of another teams will be mostly showed at Euro-sport. I did not see the schedule of Euro-sport yet. But I guess it will be Euro-sport.

some news from czech press:

Czech international Vladimir Smicer faces five weeks on the sidelines after injuring in a French league game. According to media reports, the 33-year-old Bordeaux midfielder is expected to return to action in mid-April, and the injury isn’t expected to threaten his participation in the World Cup. Smicer’s current knee problem isn’t the same one that troubled him two years ago, and which required an operation.

More czech players for Italian league?

Milan giants Internazionale and AC are interested in signing Czech internationals Zdenek Grygera and Tomas Sivok, according to David Nehoda of the Nehoda Sport agency. Nehoda’s father, Zdenek, flew to Milan yesterday for discussions with both clubs, David added, but wouldn’t say which of the clubs was particularly interested in signing which player.

AC Milan could loan Czech international Marek Januklovski to AS Roma at the end of the season, according to the Italian media. Since moving to Milan, the 28-year-old midfielder has failed to establish himself as a regular member of the starting line-up. Jankulovski himself, however, says he is unaware of any deal between the two clubs.

We'll see how confident Cech is when Ronaldinho lines up for a free kick against him, about 20 yards out, straight away.

Of all the people to talk smack about, the world player of the year would not be my choice...

Or running straight at him and wrong-footing him after bouncing off of John Terry like he did last week in Barcelona.

Not true Costa Rica is better than Latvia you will see.

I'd have to agree. I can't remember that last Latvia game I saw and I wouldn't think that they would be on par with Costa Rica.

NEWS about Baros: ankle injury. not serious!!

The ankle injury that Aston Villa striker Milan Baros picked up on Wednesday night isn’t as serious as initially feared. The Czech international was substituted in the first half of Villa’s FA Cup loss to Manchester City. It lead to worries that he had damaged ligaments or even broken his ankle. A medical examination revealed only a twisted ankle, however, and the 24-year-old striker is expected to miss no more than three weeks of football.

My two cents...

Going in to the game in Germany, anyone would have known that Bruce was fielding a very weak team. And my predictions were a loss, because as a shrewd tactical coach, Bruce did not want a win but a loss but not a huge loss. I even, after seeing the final roster, predicted the team would crack, much like Costa Rica.

Many coaches, do that especially when the game is not important.

Honestly, speaking as a Youth Coach not ashamedly, I had pulled such a stunt and successfully. We were at the Div. 3 U-16 the State Championship (1993). In South Texas the State is divided into Eastern District and Western Districts. Two teams from each district play in the district finals out of a group of four.

After winning our first two games, I lost the game to the team that won the group. They were a good team and we had split our games during the season, and the only team that could challenge us. I was missing two of my premier players.

A few days later, we played our finals and we won and went on to the State Championship games. And that year we took the second place trophy losing to a team from McAllen, Texas.

Did Arena lull the Europeans with this loss? We will not know till after the first game in the WC.

NEDVED SENT OFF IN JUVE-ROMA GAME

With his team leading 1-0, Juventus star Pavel Nedved was sent off just before half time in Saturday’s Serie A game against Roma. The Czech midfielder picked up two yellow cards within seven minutes. Reduced to 10 men, Juventus conceded a late equalizer, and drew 1-1
