Comfortable win over 2nd. I made 263/7 on the dusty pitch then skittled them for 100. They helped me out though with no less than 4 run outs!

8 points clear with 6 games to go - 2 of them against bots. I'm finally starting to believe I might be competing in the first 'proper' County Championship next season :)

Seargeant is having a rough week -- out for one in the ODI and now out for 19 against Borderliners. The squad was hanging with a run rate below 4 going into the last ten, now the main question is whether the back end of the order can hold on the rest of the way.

End of Over 4: 13-2, runrate=3.25, reqrunrate=3.26 (162-10)
Keane 2-0-8-0
Summers* 7 (11 balls)
Townley 1 (6 balls)

getting one of these wickets is crucial to make this a match

End of Over 17: 62-3, runrate=3.65, reqrunrate=3.06 (162-10)
Rose 4-0-12-0
Summers* 33 (39 balls)
Everard 4 (6 balls)

got one of the tough guys. Everard is also good, so I could use another wicket stat!

2 overs and 2 drops!

arrrgggg. if i had made those catches i would put myself in a position to win this match.

End of Over 21: 74-3, runrate=3.52, reqrunrate=3.07 (162-10)
Gardner 1-0-1-0
Summers* 41 (51 balls)
Everard 8 (18 balls)

And that's the end of the match. Knuckleheads won by 5 wickets.
Wicketkeepers 162-10
Knuckleheads 165-5

and i lost.

Summers was dropped in the deep on the last ball to get them 3 runs to win. grrr. 3 drops. if i had caught those two that were missed before I would've had a great chance to win.

Killed Voodoo Child (bot). Unfortunately they batted first so my NRR didn't get any help.

i've only batted first in like 3 of my matches and i have a NRR of around 18, though it will go down after the loss today.

i don't think batting second lowers your NRR. i think it is a myth, unless someone proved it somewhere.

I haven't been playing Julian in league matches because for a while his stamina couldn't handle it, but the WI NT manager saw that I had a big match this week and told me to go ahead and play him if I wanted to. So I put him in the lineup and he scored 170 on 140 balls. I've almost finished a win with a margin of 50 runs or so.

Bot stomp. My top bowler had another 5-wicket match.

i'm in a conundrum with training. I've got two proficient/remarkable bowlers. one is 19 (spinner) the other is 18 (seamer). 6 nets for the spinner, 4 for the seamer. I'm debating dropping the training for the spinner to 2 nets, fielding and stamina or just 2 fielding so when I pull a trainable batting trainee or purchase one on the transfer market I can improve my batting because my batting is not up to snuff compared to my bowling.

thoughts?

Going in to today's games the top 3 teams in my series were: AFI, los burritos, Carib Beer in that order (same points). We all won today and the new order is: Carib Beer, los burritos, AFI. Carib was the only team that batted first.

Of course, Carib moved up because they had the best RR today. But it's possible that my team's RR would have been better had we been allowed to bat more than 23 overs.

about the NRR thing. The reason it helps to bat first is that you will make how many ever runs you were destined to make over 50 probably something close to your best possible effort. If however you bowl first your batsmen then have a specific target so they won't always bat as fast as if they didn't have a particular target to go for. If you've got good attacking batsmen against crappy bowling they'll score at a fast rate regardless of the target. It is true that batting first tends to aid NRR but that's usually a result of not setting attacking orders or having clearly superior batsmen.

You can improve your squad by training or in the transfer market, its really up to you. I'd suggest reducing nets on the spinner to 4: 2 bowling and 1 fielding and 1 fitness. Give your seamer the rest of the nets because he's younger. You want to be training the best possible players, not just because you need to better that area in your team though so make sure that if you give nets to someone he's good enough to warrant that investment.

The time it will take to make a good player out of an average player isn't worth it. In that time you can take a good player and make him a great player, sell him and then buy 2 good players or 1 good player and 1 good trainee.

Oh yeah, won my game easily yesterday... TIE along with resting my star bat and my top all rounder.

they both put up "exceptional" on GFI, so "wonderful" on normal. I'm going to keep them both and just train the younger one more.

cool, that's probably the best thing. I've got to sell a trainee or two soon so I can free up some net space for my new guys next season I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I definitely have to do it.
