Banners and Flags: Post it here!

We dont have long!:D I am designing some color bars and a couple of makeshift flags. We need to talk about the banners soon. It will take some time to make them.Most of our banners will be "homemade" not professionally done and we need to decide the sizes, statements,colors, and production capabilites. My biggest fear is opening that stadium empty handed. Can we all put together a time for this project?(the sooner the better)

A couple of years ago, a simple flag project was suggested on the LARS boards, a few different designs in green and gold. Found some pics of what they ended up with:

I'm no Photoshop wizard, wouldn't be able to play around w/these designs in orange/black/blue:

1. checkerboard, pretty obvious in those pics

2. side-by-side squares - see pic 3

3. alternate colors divided diagonally - you can kind of see this in foreground of pic 3

4. St. George's cross or Norway flag design - in both pics 1 and 2

5. there was also a flag w/green star centered on gold flag

You can also see they put Galaxy logos on some flags, I thought using the team logo was something we weren't supposed to do, at least for banners. I think it was Footex who said he might have an in w/a flag maker. I recall that people in the RS just chipped in through Paypal to whoever took the designs to a flag company.

What does it take to make your own banners/flags? And how much does it cost and how long does it take to have them made?

Some simple ideas, we may have to leave the lettering off to begin with and just go with solid colors.

My better half is making our core Texian Army flag. We are almost done right now. Bench, if you are still around these parts, can you help me post in living color what is under construction???

The color bars are vital IMHO. The more we have the more teeth our North End has when seen on TV!

I am also making a very long color bar that is half Wildcatter Orang and half Raven Black. There will be no Space City Blue in my color bars as we will have to see how prominent that old Houston Spoilers color shows up in our kits.

I checked some Websites for custom flags and the can get pretty expensive.
$170 for just applique.

I plan on picking up a smallish flag or two to hang from right in front of our seats along the railing at the bottom of section 213. I was thinking of going either with a Come and Take It flag or an 1836 Tricolor (Alamo flag).

Echoing CeltTexan's sentiment, let's just go with orange and black for now. The blue may come in later, but let's see first. I like DrLudicrous' first two above, especially for the simplicity.

I'm located up here in Copperfield - can an ex-sailor help out with some stitching, or whatever? :D

What material are you using to make these? I'm assuming some sort of synthetic fabric... :confused:

I'm incorporating the Alamo Flag into our Texian Army Flag and my 12 year old will have the Come and Take it Flag to start off with.

We also need to get orange and black streamers. I have found a good material for it, but it tends to frey alittle when you cut it. I dont want to hem abunch of streamers, so if anyone else has good ideas for fabric streamers, that would be great. They need to be able to stand the weather.

Go to party city or whatever you have down there and get several table roles (orange and black and maybe columbia blue). We use those for special games (hoem opener, int'l friendly, playoffs, etc).

Also, if you make 2-pole banner, I suggest using your imagination . . .cartoon characters, etc.

I suggest someone use this little guy (the mean freak'n orange), but customize him to wear a Dynamo jersey. La Maquina Naranja!
