It disrupts the menstrual cycle so you could encounter:


early/late periods
spotting/breakthrough bleeding
missed periods (rare)


EC is intended to delay ovulation, so menstruation occurs 14 days after ovulation (on average). Obviously some of the side effects could be mistaken as being a period. You really need a pregnancy test to be completely sure, particularly if there is no period after 3 weeks. If anyone sees any errors in what I have written then please correct it, as I'm going from memory.

You know, what fascinates me about teenagers is, they hear about these kind of situations and mistakes, but it takes a real life experience to actually teach them the lesson. This really is beyond me.

It's not only teens - it's a human nature. People don't stop smoking even though they know the possible consequences, they don't always buckle up, don't always have a designated driver or call a cab when going to parties and drinking, etc...
