Tickets in the main stands for US games sold out months ago, leaving corporate hospitality the only means to see history in the making. Taylor explained: "We have a lot of US corporates wanting to use the event to network with non-US partners and clients. The World Cup attracts serious decision-makers. It's as big as the Olympics."
The VIP Hospitality Program offers the best seats at World Cup stadiums with priority parking, preferred entrance and superb cuisine prepared by over 5,000 chefs from all over the world. Excellent service is on hand by 4,000 hostesses, 12,000 waiters and entertainment.

"Much of the interest has been sparked by 16-year old American prodigy Freddy Adu, who if selected by US team coach Bruce Arena, will become the youngest player in history to represent his country at the World Cup."
If this is true, then my question is how did people this dumb get so rich?
This sucks that these sales are going well because unsold seats could be released to the public (as I believe some already have, at least in some games).

When the bigwigs learn that Freddy will not be in Germany, will USSoccer hook me up on the "priority" wait list?
And now that I think about it, I better hurry up and get tickets to the Battery's pre-season tournament before the suits steal my seat. [U]Damn that Adu hype!/U]

By working hard and being productive at their jobs instead of spending all their time on soccer message boards reading about how Adu has virtually no chance to make the team :D

Doubtful. More likely it was handed to them just like 99.99% of the wealth in this country. (it's a bitter day :) )

...which makes reading the link even more pathetic.
"Adu is one of the most talked-about talents in the world right now. He could wind up being America's own Pele", said George Taylor, CEO of iSe-Hospitality. "There certainly hasn't been a more talented player to come out of the States. We're all praying he'll play."
These people need to stick with stirring the punch at the pregame reception.

There's no doubt in my mind the USSF suits are going to try to pressure Bruce into naming him to the team for marketing purposes....I'm just glad Bruce won't let them get away with it

Although, and I realize I'm going out on a limb here, if naming Freddy to the team for no other reason other than to raise the visibility of the sport (and give millions of other teenagers something to shoot for), I could live with it. Maybe I'm pimping out our sport, but anything that gets Joe American thinking about soccer can't be all bad.

While we're at it, let's give the team a name with lots of 'Z's in it, have them wear neon colored uniforms and see if FIFA will consider having shootouts to decide games in the opening round.
Seriously, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Joe American doesn't give three sh!ts about Freddy Adu, and that even if he does, that young Fred has nothing to do with the upsurge in hospitality orders.
The upturn is more likely a result of a general increase in demand for corporate hospitality (regardless of the country), a sign of general increased interest in soccer in the US (not Freddy specific), and a consequence of a globalised business world (US firms entertaining corporate clients from Europe at the WC).
I have a friend who sells corporate hospitality to sporting events, including the World Cup. He told me there is a lot of demand for the US-Italy match, a little for the US-Czech, and that they stopped offering the US-Ghana match because there was no demand.

Talent does not equal current ability.
You guys need to chill out, just support the team, this article is not a big deal. Well it is important in that it's an all time high demand, which means Soccer's popularity continues to move in the right direction

Did you just make that up? Because it doesn't make a lick of sense.

The release is just additional evidence that a lot of internationals (and Americans) don't know jack about the USMNT. Just because someone brings this point up doesn't mean they don't support the team.

I would like to respond, but I cannot live with a dead kitten on my permanent record.
