First Man Utd and now Chelsea...both out of the CL and with probably 6 England outfield starters between them. In Man Utd's case they only have 11 games left and Chelsea a max of 13 so Sven should get a team in which many key players are not that fatigued....Owen and A.Cole should be back fully fit and well rested also....does this improve Englands chances in June ??

We'll have to wait and see.

Yes, an excellent point. Many of England's key players won't be burdened by the Champions League pressure. This could be good down the line in the latter stages of the WC.

Another interpretation is that the reason they won't be burdened by champions league pressure is because they aren't actually all that good.

And another interpretation is that Sven gave them all magic beans which made them have poor games in crucial champions league ties.

But, of course, anyone who presented either interpretation as their own view would be rightfully pummelled.

this is a possibility...although only three English players at both Chelsea and Man Utd would hope to start for England...mostly the other 8 starters are foreign...(Wes Brown being the exception, although its doubtfull he'll start for England)

HUH????

The only starter that's foreign based is Beckham, and Hargreaves is the only other regular member playing outside the Prem. Unless you meant foreign to Utd and Chelsea.......

Unless you meant foreign to Utd and Chelsea.......

seemed obvious to me...obviously not to you.....

let me re-phrase... Chelsea has 3 English players who regularly start for them and England.

Man Utd has 3 English players who regularly start for them and England.

these 6 players will now be playing LESS competitive games than might have been expected as their clubs are not playing in the CL

the other 8 starters for Chelsea and Man Utd are NOT ENGLISH....therefore they are FOREIGN....with the possible exception of Wes Brown.

not sure what Beckham and Hargreaves have to do with this...

I'm just not sure it is necesarily great news that english players won't be competing at the highest level

over the past couple of years they have competed plenty at the highest level and as there are more games in the EPL than ANY OTHER top euro league any break they can get is fine by me.

Only Ashley Cole is the only player playing in the Champions Leagues latter stages that starts of England

Robinson
Neville
Ferdinand
Terry
Lampard
J Cole
Beckham
Gerrard
Rooney
Owen

won't have any extra games to play now

And to help Ashley Cole is that he hasn't played to many games this season.

And PSV got knocked out which will keep Micheal Ball fresh.

I think Real Madrid going out instead of Arsenal may actually be more beneficial to SGE. If you include Mr. Woodgate, then RM have more Englishmen in their starting linup than Arsenal.

I wonder whether Campbell is still considered a starter at Arsenal? Senderos doesn't impress me but he ain't a nut-job.
