Baseball American fans care just as less as American soccer fans over the ridiculous timing of the World Baseball Classic

our baseball fans won't even know how to cheer unless it is put up on the jumbotron. Us national pride in baseball by the fans i don't think so.

Derek Lee just homered in the fourth to put the US up 1-0 and the cheers are pretty loud.

There are definitely some Mexicans there but it seems a pro US crowd. Certainly more than the US men's soccer team would get in Mexico.

BTW, Dave O'Brien is handling the PBP for this and doing a nice job. When he knows what he's talking about, he's a pretty good broadcaster. Alas, I don't think he has enough time between now and June to master the nuances of footie.

I guess they should play in Columbus?

This is definitely not the same as when we play in soccer. The guy who just caught Chipper Jones' HR was decked out in Mexico geat and he seemed pretty jacked about catching the ball so how upset can he be that Mexico just gave up a homer? I don't think either side cares as much as in soccer.

There just really isn't that much at stake in the WBC. However, give it a few more years and there will be more passion to the tournament.

2-0
Not just a score, but a way of life...
The crowd of 32,727 at Chase Field — formerly known as Bank One Ballpark — was loud and lively with Mexican supporters waiving their red, white and green national flags and chanting “Me-xi-co! Me-xi-co!” When a U.S. batter got two strikes, there were shouts of “ponche” — strikeout.
Looks like the US Men's Baseball Team needs Sam's Army...

So what was the weather like at the game?

Maybe I should update my bumper sticker to reflect another 2:0 victory over Mexico.
