I gotta let some frustration out...
Today was the first day in about two or three months that I've had a few minutes to sit down and take a look at World Cup info. I have my TST-5's and plane tickets already booked. My cousin lives in Dusseldorf, so that will be my homebase for most of the Cup.
After this, I have no idea what I'll be walking into. I get jealous looking at some of you guys and how well prepared you are. I have no idea what I need to do next!
If I treat this like I do most things in life, I'll end up waiting to the last minute and figuring it out then. Although that has worked for me 99% of the time, this will be that 1%.
I'll be meeting some of you soon enough!

p.s. Go Sabres!

Dude,
You have TST-5s, you have no need to feel anything but sheer joy. I'd trade you my hotel rooms and train passes for those anyday . . .

TST-5's, plane booked, and a free place to stay?
We should all be so lucky.
Go get some Frommer's or Fodor's travel books on the cities you plan to visit and make an itinerary to make your trip as much of a blast as you can. Those books have GREAT recommendations on the best sights to see, restaurants, hotels (if you need them)...etc
Remain calm. All is well....

Wow, what a problem to have :)
As a veteran of two WC trips abroad, I can tell you that a lot of your trip will fall into place once you are there. The wave of excitement will carry you from one place to the next. You will meet a lot of people who will tell you places to meet before and after each game. Bigsoccer will have a lot of info for you. Don't forget also that the Germans have been planning this for years and they are in fact expecting you. Just go with it! Don't plan too much.
If you want to read about someone being unprepared, read my France '98 journal here (http://blueskysoccer.com/index.php?module=pagesetter&func=viewpub&tid=1&pid=375). I was a dumbass!

Oh I definitely feel lucky to have my tickets squared away. I used to check the FIFA Ticket Window for USA Tickets every single day at 9am until that fateful day where the tickets went from red (unavailable) to green (available). Five minutes later all was good in life.

That was an enjoyable read. I would have been pretty scared to have to receive medical care in a foreign country. Seems that you survived.
