Uno, el paraguayo, fue decisivo atrás. El otro, Rodrigo, volvió a desnivelar adelante. Los dos tuvieron participación fundamental en la enorme levantada del Boca líder.

Nice article, thanks for the link. You got to love the introduction:
It's no surprise that Boca Juniors has dominated South American soccer in recent years. Not only is it the most well-organized and recognized club around the continent, but it's the one that consistently produces players of the highest caliber.
Who says the Yanks don't know anything about futbol?

El delantero de Boca llegó al centenar de partidos en Primera División y lo festejó con dos goles. Además, fue otra vez la figura del líder, que se acerca al tricampeonato.

Palacio's record so far with Boca:
32 goals in 64 league games.
12 goals in 20 international games.
Pretty impressive.
So far this Apertura:
12 goals 7 assists in 17 games played.
I don't know what his overall assists are since playing for Boca but I'm sure it's alot.

That record is quite amazing. It's strange that Palacio never seems to get the recognition, outside of Argentina, that he deserves. When you consider the hype around Higuain, who has done nothing (in my opinion) to merit it (apart from the 2 goals he scored against Boca), yet Palacio just seems to be ignored.

Higuain has done nothing. The hype just arose from the 2 goals against Boca and the whole France debacle. Some posters here even admited they didn't know who Higuain was till the whole France thing escalated.
But it also has to do with age. Palacio is 24 and Higuain is 18. So Higuain eventually has alot of potential for his age.
But Palacio is just now starting to hit his peak form. When he started with Boca he was ok, he never played the full 90 minutes. But he's been slowly improving especially his finishing which has become great.
You could say he almost single handedly saved LaVolpe from humiliation and scorn by scoring a shit load of winning goals in the second half of quite a few games. The Velez game quickly comes to mind.

I suppose the fact that Palacio had a disasterous half hour appearance at the world cup (something which he admitted himself) didn't exactly enhance his reputation in europe. But, as you say, he has had an incredible tournament, to score 12 goals in 17 games and have 7 assists as well is incredible.

Palacio was misused. Another one of Pekerman's mistakes in that WC. Palacio is not a lone striker!!! Pekerman put Palacio as a lone striker with Ivory Coast's aggressive/physical defense while Argentina was playing bunkering football. It made no sense whatsoever. Palacio needs to be partnered with someone and one of his best qualities is his ability to play through the wings. Not stand there getting zero service minus a few long balls.
For that tactic he should have put in a CF type like Cruz. Someone who could win headers and be more physical.

tbh, the form that palacio is in, i wouldn't be suprised to start hearing the rumors start flying around. i know he wants to stay for anther year but $$$ talks and he may just have to walk. I wasn't a huge fan with his selection to the wc squad but more and more i can see the potential with him and how he's really maturing into a really good player.

Macri dijo que el delantero quiere quedarse, "si también se va él, nos tenemos que pegar un tiro en la cabeza", exageró el presidente de Boca.
