Rudi Völler announced the team today:

Goal:
Oliver Kahn (Bayern München)
Jens Lehmann (Borussia Dortmund)

Defence:
Frank Baumann (Werder Bremen)
Arne Friedrich (Hertha BSC)
Christoph Metzelder (Borussia Dortmund)
Carsten Ramelow (Bayer Leverkusen)
Tobias Rau (VfL Wolfsburg)
Marko Rehmer (Hertha BSC)
Christian Wörns (Borussia Dortmund)

Midfield:
Michael Ballack (Bayern München)
Jörg Böhme (Schalke 04)
Paul Freier (VfL Bochum)
Torsten Frings (Borussia Dortmund)
Jens Jeremies (Bayern München)
Sebastian Kehl (Borussia Dortmund)
Bernd Schneider (Bayer Leverkusen)

Forwards:
Fredi Bobic (Hannover 96)
Miroslav Klose (1. FC Kaiserslautern)
Benjamin Lauth (1860 München)
Oliver Neuville (Bayer Leverkusen)

Jancker, Ziege, Nowotny, Asamoah and Hamann miss due to injuries. Ricken and Zickler miss due to performance (though I don't know why Neuville, Ramelow, Klose, Rau and Kehl don't share their fate...). Rau and Lauth are the two players without cap so far.

No way they are gonna leave Klose out regardless of his form. I think the same applies for Ramelow and Neuville. I hope Freier and Lauth get starting roles, this would be a good match to test them. As far as Zickler or Ricken being off the call ups who would you swap out for them

Rehmer is out for the game with torn muscle.

@debayern: Zickler and Ricken were not nominated for the game, they don't have to be replaced

True, I am just saying with performance in mind I wouldn't put Ricken and Zickler in the same boat as some of these other established internationals who for the most part are getting first team play each week.
Ballack is also sick this week so there is a small chance he could miss this fixture.

Ballack is indeed out with flu, Kehl also misses with assumed torn ligament.

Spain vs Germany 3-1

German lineup:
Kahn – Friedrich, Metzelder, Wörns, Rau (51. Baumann/62. Balitsch) – Schneider (74. Freier), Ramelow, Jeremies, Böhme – Klose (83. Neuville), Bobic (59. Lauth)

1:0 Raul (31)
1:1 Bobic (39)
2:1 Raul (76 pk)
3:1 Guti (82)

Justified result, Spain was superior except in the first quarter hour. The single players:

Kahn – okay, no major saves, but no fault at the goals.
Friedrich – solid
Metzelder – allowed a cross for the 2-1 despite he already had his opponent in the corner, also in other scenes more than unlucky
Wörns – forgot to mark Raul at the 1-0, fouled Raul before the 2-1, but also had the main influence for the German goal as his header was deflected by Jeremies and Bobic.
Rau – solid, substituted with injury
Baumann – just a few minutes, substituted with injury
Balitsch – replacement due to bad shape in Leverkusen, continued like this today
Schneider – not in the usual shape, had one brilliant scene quite early when he fooled two Spanish defenders on the right wing, moved to the box and played back to Böhme, who didn’t the ball properly
Freier – don’t even know if he ever touched the ball
Ramelow – continued his poor Leverkusen performances
Jeremies – could not replace Hamann or Ballack, had one extremely strong minute though when he hit the bar with a shot from exactly the middle line and narrowly missed the goal with a 25m shot soon afterwards
Böhme – still is not able to show his club performances in the NT
Klose – had one giant chance in the first half, later on I asked myself if he was already substituted at halftime, very poor performance
Bobic – was lucky with the final and deciding deflection for the goal, otherwise he was bad
Neuville – just five minutes
Lauth – soon after he came in he had a great one on one scene moving from outside to the box, but Casillas saved his shot; afterwards drowned with the team.
