Please you guys from other south american countries, answer me one thing:
Why do all of you think Corinthians is an unbeatable entity? Man, Corinthians just got owned yesterday in the classico against São Paulo and is being threated like a joke by brazilian press because of their poor campaign in both championships (paulista and libertadores),
Plus the fact they are the only big brazilian team that has never reached a libertadores final.
Anyone who gets a little about football would put São Paulo, Palmeiras and Inter as stronger contenders than Corinthians in the Libertadores.

Don't get me in that bus. I think that Corinthians is powerful because of their attack and because they have an impressive lineup, but I agree with you, you cannot be second to Noroeste or whoever they are, you have to be first and by a mile with that payroll. For me they are favorites in THIS round, because for them the group is winnable, but after that it takes much more than names, experience, cohesiveness, mentality, and they're yet to prove they have it. Sao Paolo is again the big favorite.

I'm aware of Corinthians' legacy in the Libertadores (or lack thereof) but it really seemed that this year they had it all going on with Tevez, Nilmar, Ricardinho, Mascherano... together with the achievement of last year's Brazilian championship (whether they really deserved it or not!) made them a quality contender.
Also, Sao Paulo had dropped their level a bit after winning last year's Libertadores and Inter hadn't showed much during Sudamericana. I think all of this influenced the South American press toi declare Corinthians as the Brazilian contender for the cup, but as we have seen lately, they have disappointed greatly.
And I really don't think Corinthians has it easy in their group. In fact, if they keep playing like they have in the last few games, they might not make it out of the group at all! They still have to play 2 games at home, but Tigres, Catolica, and Dep Cali are competitive teams.
