In three of the past four years, 67 points was enough to get the 4th spot locked up - that means if the Spurs pick up at least 18 more points in the last ten games, they likely get into Europe - six wins or five wins a few draws puts them in

not gonna count on getting points against Chelsea or ManU - so that means six wins in the other 8 games

based on my very unexpert opinion, its gonna come down to two games at the end, home against Bolton and away against West Ham - I am guessing that Spurs are gonna need points in both of those games to fight into Europe, with at least one win in that pair

Last year Middlesborough got 7th place (and so uefa cup) with 55 points. Whilst this year 7th place will be more difficult, 4 wins will get us into europe.

Last year Everton got 4th place (Champions League) with only 61 points. This year I think it will take at least 65 points (so at least 5 more wins and a draw for us). It's quite hard to predict with arsenal being so erratic. The highbury game and home to bolton will decide it.

My personal feeling is that it's going to be around the 60 point mark again. Since theres only ten games to go. 3 more wins and a draw or 2 will get us European football next season i reckon.

My best guess would say we'll need 65 points to go to the UCL. That's 16 more, 5 wins and 1 draw or 4 wins and 4 draws. (The way we go, the second might be more likely).

I think we MUST win @ Birmingham, vs. West Brom, vs. City. Our record at home suggests that we could certainly could get a result vs. Bolton and/or United. And again, the quality of the side is such that we could rescue a point on the road in any fixture (Chelsea only because they have Barca midweek).

But Newcastle are certainly going along well, as are Everton. And Arsenal is still tough at Highbury and West Ham will be a really tough place for us the final week.

Anyway, I think it will be a little more bunched, and we need 60 to get to Europe in 6th place. That's 3 wins and a draw.

Looking at the schedules, I think Blackburn and Arsenal will be the cheif competition pushing for 4th, and that we have to stay in front of Bolton to lock up 6th. I think 7th is more like 55 or 57 points. I know Bolton have games in hand, but I think they could be a little fatigued with all the fixtures, and I think their schedule is a little more difficult than some of the others.

I think we take 3 wins (with one being Bolton), 5 draws and 2 losses. We've been cursed with draws all season. We play very well from behind, and terrible in the lead.

If we can somehow get 3 wins in our next 5, I'll be singing quite a different tune, because I do think we will get a win or two in the run to close the season.

Exciting nonetheless!

Forget about past years and how many points were needed for 4th place. Looking at this year it will be a hard fought battle between 5 clubs(!) Just look at it from game to game and hope that the competition drops points.

The ideal scenario for next week would be a draw at Chelsea (dont think Spurs can win at Stamford Beach)..and Arsenal loss. That would give Spurs a 2 game buffer :)

One last thing I didn't think about is that Liverpool are not out of sight yet. We're just 6 points back of them. Their run in is not as easy as it might look because they go away from Anfield for a lot of games. And, they look tired at this point from their massive fixture list all season. They also have the ability to drop points at any time because they don't score.

And BTW, if you look at the difficulty of passing them if they amass even 12 points the rest of the way, that's what Arsenal and Blackburn have to see looking at us. If we get 12, they need 17-18, which is no small ask. If we get 16 (I think this is the magic number myself), they need 21-22. Like I said, the finish line is right there for the players. They have to know what effect each win could have for us.

Scum have 6 of their last 10 at home, and they're very good at home. They'll probably steal in ahead of us, and their scummy fans will make up in gloating what they've made in silence over the last few weeks.

Haha true jumhed.

Although even if we don't finish ahead of them this season, I've greatly enjoyed the humble silence so far :D and I'm sure the team will be ahead of the scum next season at this rate of improvement.
